Should You License or Assign Your Art?
A company wants to manufacture and sell your art. Great! They give you a contract but there’s one problem. According to the paperwork (an assignment contract), you must assign all your rights and give up ownership of the work permanently. That’s not what you expected. You wanted to retain your rights in the art. What you want is a license, but the company refuses to grant you one. How do you sort out what to do?
