Social Security has stopped mailing out annual Social Security statements, except to those who are age 60 or older and not yet receiving Social Security benefits. These statements, however, are now available online. To check your earnings record and estimated retirement, disability, and survivor benefits, go to the Social Security Administration web page called Get Your Social Security Statement Online at http://ssa.gov/mystatement/. You'll have to set up a secure account and password before getting access to your statement. You can then print the statement if you wish.
If you have trouble verifying your identity when you set up an account (you may have to answer some difficult questions about past names and dates), go to your Social Security office and a field representative can help you create an account.
