New NYC Marriage License Policy Protects Transgender Applicants

New York City recently issued a new policy to city clerks who issue marriage licenses, one that seeks to protect transgender individuals from discrimination. The new policy states that "City Clerk employees are forbidden from considering the applicant's appearance or preconceived notions related to gender expression when deciding whether to issue a marriage license."
