Increase in Maryland Homestead Exemption in Bankruptcy
The dollar amount of the Maryland homestead exemption in bankruptcy tracks the federal bankruptcy homestead exemption.
In April 2013, the federal homestead exemption increased to $22,975. This means that Maryland residents filing for bankruptcy can protect up to $22,975 of equity in their home or other property covered by the homestead exemption.
