Changes to the Family and Medical Leave Act and Regulations

There have been a number of important changes to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) over the past year, including expansion of the FMLA to cover military family leave and amendments to the FMLA regulations.

For more information on the military family leave provisions, including leave to care for an injured service member and leave for qualifying exigencies relating to a family member's military service, see Family and Medical Leave for Military Family Members.

For information on the regulatory changes, see New FMLA Regulations Change Rules on Notice and Certifications.

All of these changes will be addressed in detail in the forthcoming second edition of The Essential Guide to Family and Medical Leave, and will be included in our other employment and human resources books as new editions are published.
