You should consider opening an eBay store if all of the following are true:

  • You are an experienced eBay seller — that is, you've completed over 50 eBay sales transactions.

  • You have a steady stream of inventory to sell.

  • There is some unifying aspect to the items you sell, just as in a typical retail store.

  • You want to categorize and/or cross-promote your auctions and others' merchandise.

  • You have a relationship with existing eBay customers or believe you can attract new customers to your store.

  • You have the necessary time and energy (expect to spend several additional hours a day managing your eBay store).

  • You are just starting out at eBay.

  • You have limited merchandise to sell.

  • You specialize in one-of-a-kind merchandise that requires custom listings for each item. thereby making it difficult to automate your listings.

  • You are already strapped for time managing your usual eBay sales.
