Do it yourself. You can learn more about LLC formation procedures and fees for your state by visiting your state’s business filing office website (usually your state’s secretary of state). Start by finding your state’s home page (at, then look for links to either your secretary of state or business resources.

More Expensive
$200 to $300 plus filing fees*
Hire an incorporation service. Companies such as The Company Corporation ( will incorporate your business or form an LLC on your behalf. To locate one of these services, type “incorporation service” into your Internet search engine.
Most Expensive
$500 to $1,000 plus filing fees*
Hire an attorney. An attorney can help form a corporation or an LLC, usually for a fixed fee.
