Previous Employment Summary

After graduating law school, I pursued my career, focusing on U.S. business immigration law. I assist foreign workers who want to live and work in the United States by understanding their situation, goals and objectives. I obtain the appropriate work and investment visas. My clients range from multi-national companies to mid-sized and small companies, as well as individuals undergoing the U.S. immigration process.

Activities and Awards

I volunteer with non profit organizations, offering immigration help to indigent applicants. We also take numerous pro bono cases, such as abused spouses cases and cases involving immigrants who are children.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I encourage clients to use the web to learn about immigration and that is why I have created the self-help kit available at www.tnvisaexpert.com.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I do review documents prepared by clients, but we issue the appropriate disclaimers if they wish to continue the case without the lawyer.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

It will depend on the case and the immigration issue involved.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I love the mastery of details, both factual and legal. I love shaping a case to my client's maximum advantage. I love the passion inherent in persuading someone of the justice of your cause. I love helping people using all of my skills. I cannot imagine doing anything else.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

My international experience having worked and studied in Europe helps me a lot in dealing with Immigration and International matters. I am also educated in both the European and American system and that makes a huge difference to clients.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

Much to my astonishment (I originally wanted to be a litigation lawyer), I found that I had a knack for immigration and international law. Immigration is especially interesting because the law is trying to keep up with the speed of political changes in the country. Being an immigrant myself and going through the immigration hoops, I realized that a good immigration lawyer is an asset and I am trying to be one myself. There are always fascinating new issues in immigration law and I have decided to limit my practice to this one area.

What do you like best about your career?

I like representing individuals and small businesses as well as the flexibility of having my own firm. I also like having the ability to do this particular kind of work, instead of working in a large law firm and only representing major corporations.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am fortunate to have established a tight link of legal affiliates that allow me to provide superb service to our clients. My affiliate office in Tijuana provides all the support we need for Mexican business and immigration services. Mr. Rodrigo Hernandez is an experienced immigration lawyer who is heading that office. Mr. David Sheen is my affiliate attorney in Northern California, providing immigration support to international immigration clients. We also work with other lawyers in cases where other areas of law are needed.

What are your strengths and style?

Having done hundreds of these cases, I know the importance of the issues and I know the best approach to take. Often, I know the best approach while being able to guarantee the results.

I am confident, dedicated, patient and relentless on these issues.

Personal Interests:

I have a wife and a baby boy who keep me busy, and I'm very active in international groups in San Diego area. I also practice Tae Kwon Do and other martial arts to help me keep up with the stress and balance life and work.
