Family law.
Supreme Court of California; Northern District of California.
Bar Association of San Francisco.
I have over 60 hours in family law seminars for Certified Specialists in the last five years. I also have 40 hours of training in mediation and ten hours of training in collaborative law.
In 26 years of practice, I have handled most types of family law cases. Some of the most challenging instances have involved interstate custody questions, where it was necessary for the courts to determine whether California or another state was the appropriate jurisdiction to make orders regarding the parties' children.

I am a sole practitioner and I handle all types of family law. My practice was opened in 1979.
Before attending law school, I worked as a long-distance telephone operator, a switchboard operator for a hotel, a typesetter for a newspaper, and an accounts receivable clerk for a medical laboratory.

• Judge Pro Tem, San Francisco Unified Family Court
• Settlement Conference Judge Pro Tem, San Francisco Unified Family Court

I am very happy to help clients learn about their legal issues. The client and I are much more likely to achieve a satisfactory outcome if the client thoroughly understands the law and the legal procedures.
I will always review documents prepared by clients. I like clients who are willing to take charge of their own cases. I understand that some clients prefer to save money by doing legal work themselves to the best of their ability.
I often coach clients in self-representation.
When I was an undergraduate, I took some classes in the Paralegal Department of my college. Law was the first subject that I was passionately interested in.
I have 26 years of experience doing family law. My additional training in mediation and collaborative law has been helpful as well.
When I first graduated from law school, I did not know what type of law I wanted to practice, so I tried many different areas. Over the years, it turned out that family law is what I like best and what I'm best at.
I like the opportunity to help people during a difficult time in their lives. A divorce is never pleasant, but a good attorney can keep it from spinning out of control. I like seeing my clients move on with their lives after achieving the best possible result in their legal matter.
I am a sole practitioner. I share office space with other attorneys who practice immigration, landlord/tenant, personal injury, and wills and trusts.
I am very knowledgeable in all areas of family law. I am a practical person and can usually find solutions to most problems. Other lawyers often refer cases to me which appear too difficult or complicated for them to sort out.
I believe an attorney should always treat other attorneys, clients and opposing parties with the utmost professional courtesy. I always like to see cases resolved without litigation, and I encourage my clients to use alternative dispute resolution such as mediation or collaborative law. However, I will litigate in an appropriate case.
My main extra-curricular activity is "competing in agility" with my two Pomeranians, Sasha and Little Bear. I am also active in the Green Party of San Francisco.
