Previous Employment Summary

I have been in private practice for twenty years.

Activities and Awards

Rotary member, as well as Board member of the Boy's and Girl's Club, Visalia Educational Foundation, and Commissioner of the Visalia Planning Commission.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

When possible, the client should always be encouraged to assist in the process and/or self-help. It keeps clients educated and keeps costs to the client down.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

This arrangement is often used on small civil matters at a minimal cost.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

To whatever extent possible, I encourage clients to represent themselves, particularly through the small claims process. This is not a recommendation for criminal defense clients.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I decided to be a lawyer because I always wanted to be an advocate for the less-fortunate.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I have been heavily involved in community affairs and am thus acutely aware of the pulse of the community, which helps litigation and advocacy skills.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I started clerking in a criminal defense firm in San Francisco and discovered an affinity for this area of practice. As to civil and personal injury litigation, I spent most of my elective course at Hastings in this area. I kept following the area after passing the Bar.

What do you like best about your career?

What I like best about my career are jury trials.

Tell us about your law firm:

All of my staff members are experienced and totally dedicated to the community and our clientele.

What are your strengths and style?

I have a tendency to want to know everything about my case and thus am dedicated to the details prior to and during trial.

I believe myself to be considered an aggressive advocate. I am willing to zealously pursue the interests of my client.

Personal Interests:

I like to travel with my wife. I also like to hunt, fish and attend sporting events.
