I founded the Law Offices of John R. Alcorn in 1980. Our specialty is dealing with the United States government in the complicated legal areas of U.S. immigration and nationality law. This is the only field of law in which we practice.
We represent employers throughout the United States regarding employment-related immigration matters. We know how to successfully navigate through the complex rules and regulations of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Department of Labor, U.S. consulates and embassies throughout the world, the 50 separate state employment services and the federal immigration courts.
I have served as a Commissioner on the Immigration and Nationality Law Advisory Commission of the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. I also served as a Captain and Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps from 1974 to 1977, and worked on U.S. immigration matters for a major U.S. corporation from 1977 to 1979.
I am officially certified as an Immigration and Nationality Law Specialist attorney. To achieve this high distinction, an attorney must have taken and passed a written examination in Immigration and Nationality Law, demonstrated a high level of experience in this complex field of law, obtained favorable peer review recommendation, and fulfilled continuing legal education requirements.
I always like my clients to be fully informed and aware of both the law and the issues, as well as participate with me in the decision making process that relates to the case.

I speak German; we have others who speak Polish, Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Farsi, etc.
Our legal fees are billed only on a "flat fee" basis. This means that we determine what amount of money we think constitutes a fair legal fee. If the person agrees that this is a fair legal fee, and if she or he decides to sign a written agreement with us (the written agreement specifically states that the legal fee will never be increased), then we have officially entered into "an attorney/client relationship."
If a person cannot pay the legal fee in one payment, we are happy to work out a monthly payment schedule. Additionally, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express for payment of legal fees.
Our clients know the exact amount of our legal fee pertaining to their case from the day they retain us, and they have the security of knowing that our legal fee will never be increased, and that we will continue to represent them without any additional legal fees until their case is fully resolved.
