Firm Focus and History

I founded the firm in 1988, and we currently have two attorneys and four legal assistants. 80% of our work is in representing debtors in bankruptcy; we also do plaintiff personal injury and Social Security Disability appeals.

Previous Employment Summary

I have represented thousands of people and businesses in bankruptcy, and have always been self-employed.

Activities and Awards

I offer a 24 hour recorded InfoTape at (714) 957-2533 and am happy to answer questions about bankruptcy.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

They should always try to.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Yes.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Possibly, but the new bankruptcy laws are very strict and complicated.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

To help others and make a decent living.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

All of my education and work experience, particularly the service jobs like clerk and cashier I had as a kid, have helped me to be a better lawyer.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

During an early clerkship, the attorney I worked with did bankruptcy. I learned it from a Nolo book and became good at it.

What do you like best about your career?

What I like best is that I can make an immediate positive difference in someone's life.

Tell us about your law firm:

I have three excellent assistants that are very competent in their assigned tasks doing research, preparing papers, doing interviews and brainstorming case tactics. My receptionist maintains the business and is invaluable to me.

What are your strengths and style?

I am well-versed in the new bankruptcy law, having studied it as it was being formulated over the last 8 years. I worked to actively oppose what I saw as a creditor-sponsored slap in the face to American consumers.

Casual, friendly, focused.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy travel, music and film.

Understanding Fees

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
