Bankruptcy
As a solo practitioner, I work personally with each client to help them through the bankruptcy process and to get them the fresh start they are entitled to receive. I am available to personally answer my clients' questions, even years after their bankruptcy is completed, if a question arises. As a Certified Bankruptcy Specialist, I am able to advise each client on their best avenue of financial recovery based on their particular financial situation.
With regard to credit repair and negotiation, a person's credit score is their greatest asset. I enjoy getting clients back on track with their credit score and helping them get their debt down.

In re: David Son Kim, 256 Bankr. (West) 793 (S.D. Cal. 2000) - I co-chaired this trial for debtor -- the Credit Union tried to take back debtor's car after several years of payments, and we successfully argued that the Credit Union was prevented from tricking the debtor into paying off an unsecured debt which had been woven into a secured debt with tiny, tiny type.
I have also argued before the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, resulting in a published opinion (Value T. Sales v. Mitchell, 279 Bankr. (West) 839 (9th Cir. BAP 2002)). In the Mitchell case, a violation of the automatic stay occurred, and the Mitchells' house was sold at foreclosure. The foreclosure winner tried to argue they were a bona fide purchaser for value who took without knowledge of the bankruptcy and even though they violated the protections of the bankruptcy laws, they should still get debtor's house. We argued against that, and the court agreed with us -- that debtors did not deserve to have their house sold at foreclosure after they had filed for bankruptcy protection. Unfortunately, in that later case, appellants' prior attorney's name appears in the published opinion, although I had substituted in for appellants, written the majority of the briefs for the other attorney and made the oral argument.

I am a solo practitioner and have been recognized as a debt relief agency by the federal government. I have proudly been helping people file for bankruptcy for over 10 years. Prior to that, I was involved in bankruptcy law for 10 years, so I have more than 20 years of bankruptcy experience.
My firm's focus is on giving debtors a fresh start in bankruptcy, as well as helping people get a fresh start with their credit reports and credit repair. I occasionally help a creditor who has been injured by a wrongful debtor -- such as when back pay is owed, or if fraud has occurred.
I have been involved with attorneys for over 30 years -- as a secretary, paralegal, office manager, and now as an attorney.
I have worked in Washington, D.C. (Keck, Mahin & Cate), in Honolulu, Hawaii (Gelber & Gelber), and in San Diego (Duckor & Spradling) prior to attending law school and starting out on my own.
In the past, I have been on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Women's Chorus. I have also taught bankruptcy law to paralegals at University of San Diego's Paralegal Program in San Diego.
I enjoy educating clients, and if they educate themselves before they see me, that's wonderful. I can explain what they've learned in more detail and answer questions for them which they were not able to answer on their own. I am also able to point out "pot-holes" which may not be apparent to the client when they first look at the legal issues.
I'm very willing to review client-prepared documents.
It depends on what the client wants to do. If it is bankruptcy filing, I don't recommend it because the new laws are rather tricky. However, if it is credit repair, I am very willing to coach and work with the client on this.
I enjoy helping people and this gives me the ability to let people get back on their feet so they could help themselves.
I am constantly speaking with bankruptcy attorneys across the country that represent debtors to make the best use of the new bankruptcy laws for the benefit of my clients. I also attend seminars on bankruptcy practice to remain educated on case law. Finally, my computer is programmed to pull the latest bankruptcy case law and put it in my mailbox so that I see the new cases as they are decided and I can be on the cutting edge of knowledge.
I knew a lot of bankruptcy law before going to law school and felt I could do the most good in that area upon graduation. I have continued to specialize in bankruptcy since graduation by continuing to take special courses.
I enjoy meeting and helping people out of financial difficulties.
I sometimes have contract employees who assist me to complete the paperwork necessary to handle my bankruptcy practice. They are nice, personable people, who are easy to get along with and gentle with my clients.
I have had over 30 years of law experience from the ground floor on up. I enjoy negotiating toward a common solution.
I am a negotiator, a facilitator, rather than an angry lawyer. I work well with people to find the best solution for their legal needs.
I love to sing in a semi-professional chorus. I also enjoy reading and being with people in musical settings, as well as spending time with my family.

I don't have "fixed-price services and fees". My bankruptcy prices vary, depending upon which type of bankruptcy is required by the client, whether taxes are involved, whether a foreclosure or repossession is involved, or if it is a straightforward liquidation with very little assets or income. I take into account my client's income when setting my basic minimum Chapter 7 fee so that someone on Social Security can afford legal help without spending a fortune.
This too depends upon what type of litigation or legal work I am doing for the client. My work ranges from credit repair to litigation work in Bankruptcy Court, and my hourly rate changes according to the complexity of the work involved.
I provide a free consultation.
Depends on the type of case.
