What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I think it's critical that clients educate themselves on legal issues, so that they can assist in their own defense and have a realistic understanding of the legal process and the potential outcome.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Yes.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I'm willing to consult with an individual about their cases, but I think that if I'm going to be representing a client (especially in regards to criminal defense), then I should be representing a client.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

There is a long tradition in my family of going into the law, and I like solving puzzles and helping people.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I learn something from every new client and case, which always assists me in my continuing practice.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I chose criminal law, because I felt that it was an interesting area of practice where the people that I assist and represent truly have a need and appreciate the work that I do for them.

What do you like best about your career?

I like meeting new people, my clients and the challenges they present.

Tell us about your law firm:

I'm a sole practitioner, so with few exceptions, when you call me you get me. I return all calls promptly, and I can be reached at all hours including weekends. I treat every client exactly as I want to be treated.

What are your strengths and style?

I have empathy toward my clients' concerns. I also have the ability to understand the thought process of the prosecuting attorneys and judges that I need to deal with to resolve clients' cases.

I am straightforward and direct.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy reading, kayaking, hiking, biking, youth activities.

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
