What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

We believe an educated client is the best client to have. When a client knows and understands some of the basics in the area of the law they are involved in, the attorney can reason with them and better explore the options available to that client.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Somewhat willing to perform scrivener review tasks.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Willing to assist in this area at a reduced hourly fee, so long as scope of retainer agreement is narrowed accordingly.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I've wanted to be a lawyer since my sophomore year at Brother Rice High School. I was always driven by the professional requirements, by the focus on the profession in thinking about all problems from a logical and analytical standpoint. I've been drawn to the profession by my desire to assist clients within the government structure of separation of powers. I subscribe to the professional view that the government must be forced to prove their case against the accused.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

Having gone through a divorce myself in 2007, I am a more seasoned and experienced divorce attorney.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

My business model has always been to develop a general law practice. This comes from my training as an appellate lawyer, first with the Michigan Court of Appeals, and then as an associate in the appeals division of the Plunkett Cooney law firm.

What do you like best about your career?

Assisting people with complex legal problems and prevailing in a majority of cases due to superior preparation and focus. Also, I enjoy managing difficult personalities in the process and take pride in the end result which came about from my skill at managing people in difficult situations.

Tell us about your law firm:

I have a well-trained professional staff with a great deal of legal experience. When you contact our office, you are greeted by pleasant, attentive individuals. By the time you speak with my legal assistant, you are in the hands of people that care about your issues and will take down the critical information and get it into my hands quickly. Our office utilizes a full complement of modern technologies in order to process your information swiftly and accurately. This includes your personal information from the intake side of things, as well as processing incoming papers and court orders that are generated as the case progresses. My staff has instantaneous communication with me even while I am serving clients every day in court due to our synchronized calendaring and internal communication technology. Currently, we are in the process of serving our clients more efficiently by moving toward a "paperless" office with the use of a high-end computer system, including scanners and paper shredders.

What are your strengths and style?

I treat all individuals in the legal process with respect. When the situation calls for a more direct approach, however, I have the experience and confidence to bring the right amount of professional pressure to bear on a given situation in order to appropriately advance my client's interests.

Personal Interests:

I have three great kids and we like lake living, water sports and snow sports. My two girls are champion equestrians, and my son enjoys every sport known to man.
