Wills, Trusts & Estates
My clients have estates of all sizes. I work hard to ensure that each person's estate plan, their will, trust, advance health care directive (living will) and/or power of attorney meets their individual needs and wants. I particularly enjoy working with the owners of family owned businesses, including farms and ranches, to ensure that proper succession planning occurs. I also handle probate and estate administration cases.

I have assisted clients with estates that were under $10,000 and estates that were greater than $5,000,000. I have helped put in place plans of succession for family farms and ranches ensuring that the farm or ranch passes to a certain child while maintaining an inheritance for other children. I have assisted couples in planning where there are children from prior relationships. I have assisted co-owners of business in creating buy-sell agreements and estate plans that are consistent with each other and their objectives.

Hallock & Hallock focuses its practice in the areas of estate planning and business planning. Hallock & Hallock has an established record of helping both individuals and businesses with innovative and sound solutions. Among the matters Hallock & Hallock assist clients with are: wills, trusts, advanced health care directives (living wills), powers of attorney, estate and gift tax planning, probate and trust administration, business succession planning, formation of corporations and limited liability companies, family business issues, planning for farmers and ranchers, charitable trusts and foundations, formation of non-profit corporations, guardianships and conservatorships, retirement benefit planning, and real estate.
I started this business in Logan, Utah in 1996 as the Law Offices of Todd N. Hallock. In 1997 my wife, Sara Nelson Hallock, joined the practice and we officially became Hallock & Hallock. In 2008, I became licensed in Idaho and began offering estate planning services in Idaho in addition to Arizona and Utah. I have tried to develop a friendly, creative environment for my clients and staff.
Prior to starting my own firm I worked for the Salt Lake City law firm of Hanson, Epperson and Smith in the area of insurance defense.
I have served as President of the Cache County Bar and Chair of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society - Logan, Utah Chapter. I have served as a Board Member for the Northern Utah Estate Planning Council, the BYU Law School Alumni Association, and the Cache County Chapter of the BYU Alumni Association.
I believe it is vital that my clients, especially, those who own businesses, become educated on planning matters. I feel much more comfortable with the decisions clients are making if they have taken the time to understand the bigger picture.
I am willing to review documents prepared by clients.
As long as the parameters are clear, I am willing to coach clients who wish to represent themselves.
I became a lawyer because it is an honorable profession - a profession where attorneys are trusted with their client's most important matters. I loved the intellectual stimulation coupled with the opportunity to help people.
I come from a long line of small business owners in my family. My parents and grandparents all owned their own businesses. My in-laws own their own family farm. From seeing and living through their experiences and my own as a small business owner I have lived many of the concerns my clients have. I know how matters impact them legally, but I also understand how it impacts their business and them personally.
I truly enjoy working with people in a proactive way to plan their estates. I especially enjoy working with the owners of small and medium-sized businesses as they plan for succession and other issues impacting the business.
I like helping. I enjoy the feeling that comes after a challenging problem has been addressed in a way that gives comfort and peace to my clients.
We are a small firm. My clients deal directly with me and with my excellent staff.
I believe my one of my biggest strengths is my passion for getting things right. I work hard not just to get the job done, but to get it done right. I really care about my clients and want to do my best for them. I believe most find me easy to work with and appreciate the concern I have for them.
I love to spend time with my wife and four children. I love to golf and hike. I love to read, particularly history. I am an avid sports fan. I love watching and rooting for my Sun Devils from Arizona State.
