On a daily basis, I help clients with their financial problems and legal dilemmas. In today's market, often my clients are trying to save their homes or investment properties and dealing with aggressive creditors or debt collectors.

Although Foreclosure, Bankruptcy and Asset Protection are the most common calls for help, they still vary. With over 17 years in private practice, I have experience in over 23 areas of law. Additionally, many of my clients are small business owners and I find myself reviewing or drafting contracts, negotiating the sale or purchase of a business and answering the various business legal questions that may arise. Firm Focus and History

Our firm is focused on providing legal services to businesses and individuals meeting their special needs and providing useful advice.

Although I have been working in South Florida since 1992, I formed the Brien Law Group to focus on consumer and business issues in the downturned economy.

Previous Employment Summary

Although the Brien Law Group is a newly formed professional legal company I have been practicing in Florida for over 17 years. In addition to running a solo practice, I taught Business Law, Ethics, Corporation and Contracts in a Bachelors' program at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Teaching both artists and young immigrants was helpful in developing a total quality management approach to dealing with clients' needs. Additionally, I taught Prep courses for Kaplan helping student gain entry into university undergraduate and graduate programs. Further, after taking a Sabbatical to travel the world by backpack, I worked as a Prepaid Legal Attorney, providing legal advice and help to the member. During this period, I developed a sincere desire to help a client timely and effectively. I try to answer all my calls and return calls within two to three hours.

Activities and Awards

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

It is important for an attorney to educate a client and explain the law. The more a client understands about the law, the better.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am always willing to review client prepared documents. Often, a client has a better idea of what they want to accomplish and how.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I find myself coaching clients through many different types of legal matters. Sometimes, it is better for an attorney to act as a coach or consultant than to enter into the matter directly.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

Becoming an attorney was part of a process that lasted several years. I find it fulfilling to help people deal with matters legal and otherwise. Often, it is helpful to ask the right questions and provide objection opinions in difficult situations.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

Years of working with diverse personalities and world travel has enabled me to understand the needs of people and meet their expectations.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

In the current marketplace, people need my abilities and insight while dealing with the dilemmas that are placed before them.

What do you like best about your career?

Helping people.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am a solo practitioner, so all my clients deal directly with me. I am very attentive to my clients needs and with a wealth of experience in 27 areas of law. I am often able to provide assistance in most situations.

What are your strengths and style?

Most people find me to be straight forward and attentive. People want answers that are balanced and clear. I try to keep my answers or explanations simple.

Personal Interests:

I spend most of my time with family and friends. Additionally, I love the water and find myself spending time in and around water.
