Dan and I were prosecutors and left the prosecution side to start our practice in 1998.
I was a prosecutor for two years for the Phoenix City Prosecutor's Office, 1996 to 1998, and then started my own practice, Ballecer and Segal, with Dan Ballecer.

I think that clients should research and educate themselves on any type of issue, legal or otherwise. However, law is complicated and I don't think reading about it on the internet qualifies anyone to make serious legal decisions without the advice of a professional. Put it this way, I may educate myself about a particular disease I was diagnosed with, but I would not attempt to treat myself or tell the doctor how to treat me.

None.
I enjoy solving problems.
I teach criminal law and procedure at community college and have a full life with four kids.
I can't give you an answer to why I chose this area of law other than I liked it.
I enjoy many aspects of my career. I like solving problems and litigating issues to perhaps change the law.
Clients deal directly with me and I have a wonderful assistant who keeps track of all my cases.
I am straight-forward with clients. I have a good reputation among the various judges and prosecutors. I work hard.
I have taught at defense seminars, specifically, the Arizona Association of Criminal Justice and the Arizona Public Defender Association. I have also been an adjunct professor since 2006 teaching several criminal law related classes at Paradise Valley Community College.
