Example Cases

Clients often visit me to learn about the requirements of obtaining a work visa. I work with the prospective employer and employee to create a work visa application. Once the needed documents are filed and an appointment at a U.S. Consulate is made, I work to prepare the employee for his/her visa interview. I stay in touch with my clients to advise them on how to renew the visa when the current visa is close to expiring.

Previous Employment Summary

Escamilla & Poneck, Inc., Attorneys and Counselors.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I find it helpful when clients educate themselves on legal issues. The more a client understands about his/her case, the easier it is for my client to make educated decisions.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Once I am hired, I am glad to review documents prepared by clients.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I don't advise clients to represent themselves. The law is complicated and coaching a client is like trying to summarize three years of law school into a one hour conversation.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

At an early age I learned that many of the people best suited to make decisions in our communities and for our communities were lawyers. I decided I wanted to be like those people, so I went to law school.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

Experience practicing law is what makes me a better lawyer. The more I service my clients, the better I get at anticipating and providing for their legal needs.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

My primary area allows me to help people achieve the American dream. I enjoy doing what I do.

What do you like best about your career?

I like seeing my clients happy because we resolved their problems.
