Firm Focus and History

The Farber Law Group represents clients who have been seriously injured due to the negligence of another. We represent those injured in motor vehicle accidents; slip, trip and fall accidents; construction accidents and any type of accident that resulted in a serious injury including playground, sports, etc.

We also represent people who have been injured due to medical malpractice and nursing home abuse or neglect.

I founded The Farber Law Group approximately 30 years ago. I handle most of the cases personally, including car accidents and other serious personal injuries. For out-of-state claims and more complex cases, I team with other distinguished attorneys.

Previous Employment Summary

I opened my own firm after my graduation from Seattle University School of Law.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

In Washington State and in the greater Bellevue-Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area, we have a very educated population and people are very tech savvy. Many of our clients come to us after having thoroughly researched both who to choose as an attorney and their particular case. With more than 30 years expertise, I can help the client understand their legal rights. I provide a free case evaluation in which we can openly and freely discuss the client's case and feel comfortable with each other before they retain me as their attorney.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am always happy to review any documents a client has prepared. Many clients come to me with a lot of documentation on their case. For example, a car accident victim might bring a copy of the police report regarding their car accident and even their medical records. Documentation prepared by the client often makes our meetings more productive and helps insure a positive outcome.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

We are willing to provide our clients with resources. However, with more than 30 years experience in personal injury law, we feel our professional duty is to insure that a client's legal interest is truly protected. We represent our clients on a contingent fee basis which means that they pay no attorney fees unless we obtain a settlement for them. Most clients don't want to fix their own automobile or perform surgery on a family member and most don't want to practice law and they see the value of our expertise.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I always had a sense of fairness while I was growing up. In my undergraduate work, I learned about our great legal system and how it has righted many wrongs and I wanted to be part of that. As a personal injury attorney, I feel like I am fighting for fairness every day. I work to insure that injury victims are given a fair shake by the large corporations and insurance companies.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

A lot of my undergraduate work required me to be articulate and think logically and analytically. My experience in writing well has also been the key to my success.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I found that injured persons often have the "deck stacked against them." An injured person usually does not have the resources to take on the insurance companies and huge companies that have deep pockets and will do anything to decrease the amount of a claimant's compensation. I actually enjoy being the David to Goliath and fighting for my clients.

What do you like best about your career?

Helping people who have been injured. It is deeply satisfying knowing that severely injured people will get the medical/rehabilitation care they need and deserve. We sleep better at night knowing that the family of a man who was killed in a construction accident will be provided for. Or, that a child injured at birth due to medical malpractice will have their medical and educational needs provided for.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am a solo practitioner but I am a people person and I work well with the attorneys that I partner with. My staff is also the key to my success. My paralegal, Kelly Daniels, has more than 20 years experience in the legal profession. Kelly enjoys one-on-one contact with clients and her attention to detail allows her to manage case files flawlessly. She helps us keep our clients informed and up-to-date on the progress of their case.

What are your strengths and style?

Each and every case and client is important to me. I am personally interested in my client's welfare and responsible for their case. In large law firms, this is often not true. I can be very blunt, but the client knows that I am their advocate.

Personal Interests:

When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three children and attending their 4H and sporting events. I enjoy walking our dog, playing a round of golf, going to a Mariners game and ending the day with a wonderful glass of Northwest wine.
