Activities and Awards

The firm of Mahler, Lohin & Associates, LLC, is an AV-Rated firm by Martindale-Hubbell.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Often, clients try to handle matters themselves, and they find themselves in over their heads. When they realize the nuances and complexities of the law, especially in bankruptcy, collections, and tax, they need my help, with decades of experience, to assist them in obtaining favorable results.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am always willing to review client-prepared documents, to assist them in fine-tuning the materials to obtain the desired results, and to avoid some of the pitfalls they may not recognize.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I work with clients who want to cut costs by self-representation, but I think that self-representation may lead to unexpected pitfalls they did not foresee, and I usually recommend retaining a professional. If a claim is worth pursuing, it is worth pursuing carefully and professionally.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

Although it sounds trite, I genuinely enjoy helping people out of difficult situations. Whether they are facing financial trouble, a daunting tax assessment, or are seeking recovery of debts, I enjoy the thrill of working with my clients toward favorable resolution.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

Oddly, I think my experience as a bartender and a waiter while I was going through school has given me a unique insight into people. I have seen people at the best times of their lives, the worst times of their lives, and the range in between, in my days as a bartender or waiter as well as in my legal career.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

It is my interest in helping people out of difficult situations that motivates me in all areas of my practice. Also, I had extensive experience with my grandfather's tax consultation business from a very early age.

What do you like best about your career?

Working to help hardworking people get the relief they need.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am in a small firm, and we pride ourselves on the personal attention we provide. To compliment that, our support staff is experienced in providing the type of attention and assistance our clients deserve.

What are your strengths and style?

I like to lend a sympathetic ear to my clients, to be sure to fit my efforts to the needs of their cases.

Personal Interests:

I am an animal lover, a watercolorist, and I have an interest in art, architecture and history.
