Subject: thank you
Hello Len,
As much as this whole thing has been an unbelievable nightmare for me, I did get a positive out of it. You restored some of my trust in attorneys. I know that sounds awful, but it has been my unfortunate experience to have some negative dealings lawyers (not returning calls, not considering the clients circumstances, etc-in business matters, mostly). You have been forthright, easy to communicate with, thoughtful and considerate. Your secretary has been wonderful as well- Thank you so much for all of your help!

Mr. Harden:
I am writing this letter to thank you and your office for representing my case this past fall of 2007. In short, my misfortune last fall in Lancaster required myself to obtain a lawyer. Being in the position of vacationing in the Lancaster area; it made it difficult to locate someone to represent me. I spent some time on the internet and located your web sight. Once read, I felt very comfortable with contacting your office.
You truly represent the law and clients with great experience and empathy. Your outcome of the unfortunate situation that I personally was involved in finalized in a positive outcome thanks to your assistance. I personally recommend his services to anyone in need.
Mr. Harden is truly the best defense lawyer in the State of New Hampshire and I'm gratefully honored to have hired his services.

Testimonials from clients:
Attorney Harden,
On September 16th 2006, I had a confrontation with another male and was arrested on an assult [sic] 3. After some haggeling [sic] I was appointed Attorney Harden. He listened to my side of the story and imediately [sic] filed the appropriate motions with the court.
On the day of the trial the courtroom was full and it look as though we would be there for a while. Judge Anctil showed Attorney Harden great respect by calling his trial before all others, thus freeing up a very busy lawyer. The prosecution started by asking questions in the third party and Att. Harden immediately objected. After several more objections by Harden he concieded [sic] to the Judge that he would allow these novice prosecutors to continue this line of questioning with out any more objections from him. Judge Anctil appreciated Att. Harden letting the prosecution continue so the trial could move on expediantly [sic].
When Att. Harden cross examined the prosecutions witness he knew the school where the officer had trained. He was able to point out that this training did not show in the investigation of this case. His investigative technics [sic] were inadequat [sic] given the training received [sic]. Case in point, the officer never tried to recieve [sic] a video of the alleged crime. He also never canvassed any houses near the scene of the crime to find any witnesses. All the while showing this officer respect and never seeming condesending [sic] thus showing an air of proffesionalism [sic].
When Att. Harden crossed the complaintant [sic] he offered a crucial piece of evidence, a red cup/candle holder and validated the never before heard of piece of evidence by forcing the Judge and prosecutor to discuss a benign aspect of this evidence and thus validating the red cup-candle holder. I would be considered a problem client by most lawyers. One that may be prone to an outburst at the council table. This can unnerve any seasoned lawyer Lawyer Harden was calm + cool throughout the whole case, and there were even a couple of those outbursts wich [sic] did not unerve [sic] him.
Mr Harden did a very find job getting me out of some pretty stupid trouble that I had gotten myself into
Respectfully
Christopher Fallon

TO: Whom it may concern
REF: Attorney Leonard D. Harden
On March 12, 2009, my ex-mistress (and ex-employee) filed a stalking petition against me in Berlin (NH) District Court. Upon its approval by the judge I was served with a temporary protective order (March 13, 2009) and a hearing was set in Berlin District Court to adjudicate the matter. Even though the official stakes were not high (I faced at worst a year-long restraining order), there were other private ramifications (real estate and other issues) that made it crucial that I prevail at the hearing. I retained Attorney Len Harden to defend me.
From the outset, Attorney Harden was thorough and professional. We discussed my story versus the allegations against me, then he explained in detail, statue [sic] book in hand, what NH law defines as "stalking." He declared that my activities relating to the plaintiff DID NOT constitute stalking, but he quickly cautioned that my defense would not be a slam dunk, since most judges tend to favor the woman in such cases. After our initial meeting, I continued to supply Len with additional facts and thoughts relating to the case, perhaps 40-50 pages.
Attorney Harden then exercised his GIFT, an uncanny ability to absorb, sort, sift, and organize vast amounts of information, to deal with peripheral issues (pre-hearing motions and responses), to soothe client anxiety (my ongoing emotional turmoil)?and to do it ALL such that it does not detract but rather reinforces his laser-like focus on the crux of the matter: what is required to prove stalking IAW the NH statue [sic]. And (on May 20th) he worked his GIFT best in the court-room, acting and reacting to testimony (direct and cross), to changing the circumstances, to difficult witnesses (including myself), ALL THE TIME directing the core of his attention to the crucial stalking statue [sic], the requirements of the law. Same goes for his summation (Len is the sharpest at such moments) where he proclaimed the law, the law, and nothing but the law, then he argued that the plaintiff had not met her burden of proof set for by said law?QED.
The judge agreed. On May 21, 2009, the case against me was dismissed.

I am an experienced trial lawyer practicing in Northern New Hampshire, primarily serving Coos County and Northern Grafton County. I have successfully argued more jury trials than any other defense lawyer in Coos County. I have been representing people in criminal cases for over fifteen years.
I am recognized by my peers as possessing exceptional knowledge in the field of DWI. I have served on an editorial board for James Publishing, Inc. and written a chapter on breath testing in a book to be published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. (MCLE) focusing on New Hampshire DWI defense. I have been a presenter at a New Hampshire defense lawyer trainings sponsored by the New Hampshire Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Association on Advanced DWI Defense.
I am certified according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to administer the standardized field sobriety tests (horizontal gaze nystagmus, walk and turn, and one leg stand.) I am also certified to operate, maintain and repair the Intoxilyzer 5000. I have been certified to operate the Intoxilyzer 8000, the SD-5 and Intoximeter FST and taken advanced forensic blood classes. I am a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. I am better trained than the police officer who arrested you. I have the experience to focus on the proper methods to attack the state's case against you and win.
I am available 24 hours a day for emergency consultations.
Harden Law Offices was established in June of 2003. I opened a second office in the summer of 2005 in Littleton to better serve the North Country. I am willing to meet with clients before or after normal business hours. I take pride in returning calls personally and in handling all of my cases from start to finish.
I have been focusing on criminal defense with a larger firm from southern New Hampshire and managing their office in Lancaster for over 7 years. Prior to my work with the southern firm, I worked in a North Country general practice firm focusing on criminal defense. It was during my time at the general practice firm that he began taking court appointed cases from local courts in northern New Hampshire.
I have been defending cases in northern New Hampshire for over 15 years.
When one is charged with or being investigated for a crime, it is vital for both the lawyer and the client to understand everything about the facts of the case, the witnesses, and the law governing the case. To that end, the lawyer and the client must work together in every stage to educate each other to provide the very best defense for the client.
I am happy to review documents pertaining to a client's case within the structure of each case. Generally, I would rather prepare the document myself; if a client feels a particular motion might be availing, I'll be happy to discuss it. If it has merit, I will present it.
It is very dangerous for someone to represent himself in a criminal case. At the very least, two heads are better than one, and a criminal defendant needs an attorney who understands the charges, the possible penalties, all possible defenses, and the rules of evidence to best represent the client. I believe having a qualified, skilled and experienced defense attorney is vital to protecting someone's rights.
I decided to be a lawyer because I like fighting for the underdog, I like being creative to solve problems, and I enjoy the competitive arena of the courtroom. I find it gratifying to help people who find themselves in a stage where they need a knowledgeable and aggressive lawyer. Finally, I really enjoy competition and winning.
I grew up in a blue collar household in Western New York, industries were closing and the entire area suffered as plants kept shutting down. In short, it was a poor area with a lot of suffering. I am the youngest in my family and the first to graduate from college. I worked to put myself through university and law school. I have worked in factories, restaurants, farms and offices. I believe that my personal struggle to achieve success through education and hard work have motivated me to help others. I believe my background has caused me to have a fantastic work ethic.
I have seen injustices that result from overzealous law enforcement officers. Innocent people have been convicted and imprisoned. Good people who commit a small mistake are often punished too severely. These events provide motivation for me. I believe that everybody deserves a chance and work hard for all of my clients.
The most important area of law is the one where a person's liberty is at stake, and often, where a person's career is also at stake. The consequences of a criminal case can be prison in the worst cases. In other cases, protecting someone from having a criminal record can be the most vital issue for a client's future.
I like protecting people from injustice and helping them achieve their goals. I also enjoy fighting for the little guy against the government. It requires enormous amounts of effort to learn all the details, master the rules of evidence, be persuasive and present a solid defense. There is a real sense of exhilaration during a trial which empowers me and motivates me to keep getting better. I believe that there is always more to learn and a better way to achieve a goal. I find the quest to be a great trial attorney and help people is my passion.
I am a solo practitioner, so I handle all aspects of my client's cases from start to finish. I have a licensed private investigator who works exclusively with me who is a retired police officer. He works on my cases with my guidance to interview witnesses, visit scenes and collect evidence. I believe having a licensed private investigator working with me has enabled me to win cases due to having an independent investigation conducted.
I am hardworking, thorough, creative, and aggressive for my clients, in all cases.
In addition to my criminal defense practice, I enjoy the outdoors, sports, motorcycling, good food, reading, music, and movies.
