My primary focus is defending those who have been charged with a crime.
I began my legal career in 1982 as a deputy district attorney in California. I worked as a prosecutor until 2008 when I began my career defending those charged with a crime. My experience as a prosecutor has given me great insight into effectively defending the accused.
While in law school I clerked for both lawyers and judges, gaining experience in family, bankruptcy, criminal, tort and real estate law. From 1982 until 2008 I worked as a prosecutor, spending 12 years of my career as a gang prosecutor.
I encourage clients to educate themselves regarding the law and their situation and I do all I can to help them in that regard.
I review all documents pertaining to my clients' cases and I encourage them to bring all paperwork to the consultation.
I do not coach clients who want to represent themselves.
I enjoy the intellectual rigor that practicing law requires, as well as working with and helping people.
I have a wide range of life experiences, including working as a manual laborer, handy man, department store clerk, and career prosecutor. I keep informed of current events in law and the world. These have given me an understanding of people and a desire to help those who have made mistakes or found themselves unjustly accused.
I strongly believe that everyone should be treated fairly and that everyone is entitled to a vigorous defense. I do my best to ensure that my clients are treated fairly and defended vigorously.
Of course, helping those who have been wrongly accused is very rewarding. However, also helping those who have made mistakes in a way that allows them to continue as productive citizens is also very rewarding.
I am a solo practitioner. My clients deal directly with me.
I am not afraid to go to trial, and will do so if it is in the best interest of my client. I am loyal to my clients, sympathetic to their predicament, and honest. I keep my clients fully informed, advise them of my opinion, and am always willing to listen to their opinions.
