Firm Focus and History

My firm is focused on doing quality work at competitive prices in the areas of our expertise taking pride in working very closely with the client by providing very personal services in a professional, competent and efficient manner. I have over 30 years of training and experience in my areas of practice.

I started my own practice after leaving the Internal Revenue Service and being associated with some firms and then founding my own firm which eventually led me to my solo practice in 1981, expanding it with partners throughout the years but then returning to my roots with my solo practice in the 1990s.

Previous Employment Summary

Right after law school I worked in the IRS as an estate tax attorney. After that I was an associate with the firm of Harkavy, Goldman, Goldman, Caprio, & Levy. I founded my own firm in 1981, expanded with partners, and went solo again in the 90s, which remains as my own Stempler Law Center.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I think it is extraordinarily important as I frequently deal with more sophisticated matters relating to financial transactions so that the client having a very strong background in the business or real estate involved would greatly enhance my representation, especially as ultimately they will be making the decisions while being guided by our legal advice.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I will do it, but I do not necessarily encourage it.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I generally do not find it beneficial and encourage clients to obtain legal counsel and not act pro se.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I honestly believe that a lawyer is the architect of the social structure and is therefore involved in many of the designing and developing of the economic and business needs of people. I always want to assist people in this regard. I thought I was doing a social service and helping people within this business and economic environment by using my legal skills in an effective way.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

Living in a day to day world and being very active in all areas of everyday society makes me a better lawyer because I know what's out there. I am a good listener and observer in what is needed to better assist my clients with their legal needs.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I have always been business and real estate oriented and felt that for both you need tax background in order to better assist people within those areas. I like to call myself a business and real estate lawyer with a tax expertise.

What do you like best about your career?

The ability to help people and bring their transactions to a successful conclusion. It is always satisfying when things come to fruition and you are able to work with the clients to help that happen.

Tell us about your law firm:

I always pride myself on having people who are very responsive and caring to the client and being very professional and handing things in the most respectful and competent way. I always tell people who work with me that you can never take back a first impression, so make sure that the first time you ever deal with someone throughout the matter you deal with them in a professional and competent way.

What are your strengths and style?

I am a very good listener and very attentive to the specific and personal needs of the client. I treat each matter whether large or small with equal importance and employ a hands-on personal approach.

Personal Interests:

Family first and foremost, and then sports. Politics, avid reader, love playing and being spectator at every sport, love summer sports, traveling, food and wine.
