We firmly believe that client education is vital to the attorney-client relationship, because knowledge of the legal and factual issues creates an environment where the client can more fully assist the attorney in advocating for their legal position. Typically, the client knows the vital facts of their legal issue, but may not understand how those facts relate to the legal issues. Proper communication between the attorney and client, coupled with proper instruction by the attorney can maximize the application and effectiveness of particular facts to the related legal claims of the client.
We are always willing to review documents prepared by clients, and provide appropriate feedback to each client in accordance with our legal engagement agreement.
As a matter of professional responsibility, we do not coach clients to represent themselves without legal counsel due to the fact that the courts require that litigants representing themselves be required to conduct themselves as an officer of the court, including the requirement that the self-representing litigant understand the court rules and procedures.
We entered the practice of law as a result of our deep and abiding belief that our legal system, despite its flaws, is the most important system we have as citizens to protect our rights under the United States Constitution.
We worked for and owned small businesses prior to becoming attorneys, which provided us with invaluable experience as a client in hiring attorneys. We quickly became aware of those qualities in an attorney that were most beneficial to us as clients, and have always strived to emulate those good qualities in our legal representation (i.e. good communication, ethical character, and professional service).
We have always been interested in the integration of our clients' business interests (i.e. business and tax objectives) with their estate planning objectives, which are vital to the preservation of family unity and wealth preservation. We have always advocated the protection of individual and family rights, especially those of children.
We enjoy the opportunity to work constructively with individuals and families in the protection their rights, and in achieving their goals and expectations through proper business and estate planning techniques.
Our firm employs two attorneys and each client deals directly with an attorney. Each of the attorneys has a legal assistant that works closely with both the attorney and the client. Our courteous staff is well trained and is always attentive to our client needs.
Our strengths include our ability to provide compassionate and professional legal services to our clients in an efficient and timely manner. "We never forget that we once sat in the chair that our client now sits."
Our attorneys have advanced degrees in science and the law, making us uniquely qualified to deal successfully with many professional individuals and organizations/companies in effective business, probate, and estate planning and related litigation. Our experience in protecting the rights of children from the abuses suffered both outside and inside the legal and public system have positioned us as strong advocates for these children.
Our personal interests include outdoor adventure (i.e. fishing, hiking, and travel), athletics, and community and church service in our respective community organizations and congregations.
I have two office managers/administrative assistants: Neva Liebe and Mark Rushforth.
