Represented Client X, a 19 year-old male, who was charged with attempted murder. Though negotiations and litigation the charges were reduced to Aggravated Battery with a Firearm. While he was still facing punishment under the 10-20-Life statute, I was able to reduce his sentence to five years in the Department of Corrections with a short probation to follow.
Represented Client Y, charged with Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling. Upon review of the case file, and through discovery, I developed a strategy to prove he had not committed the alleged offense. The morning of trial, the State Attorney dismissed the case in total.

Reed & Archer, LLC focuses on representation of the client as a whole person. Our Christ based philosophy is the guideline used in approaching representation of our clients in family, civil, criminal and financial matters.
Reed & Archer, LLC was established May 1, 2006 by Daniel D. Archer and William M. Reed. In 2008, Choung Mi Akehurst joined the firm and in 2009 Tyler Van Voorhyess was added.
Before admission to the Florida Bar, I served eight years in the United States Air Force until I was honorably discharged in 2000. During Law School, I worked for Oklahoma Indian Legal Services and several litigation and collection firms.
Teen Court Justice for Lake and Sumter Counties, Mason, Southern Baptist Deacon, and Youth Minister.
Knowledge is power. Unfortunately many of the individuals in my profession are desirous of making money and will charge for information that can be easily found out through simple research. Representation of clients should be about defending their rights and insuring they receive their just entitlements. Individuals should be seeking out all the information they can on their own and should be focused on using their money for the important priorities such as family. An attorney should only be retained for purposes of application of the law and insuring fair play.
I have no problem reviewing their documents. Most times my review will prevent them from making substantial missteps which could affect them later.
I have provided help to clients in the past as a cost saving measure, however, I also remind them of the adage: "a man who has himself for an attorney has a fool for a client." Sometimes it is just too hard to stay emotionally disconnected and level headed on issues when you are advocating for yourself.
To prove a point and change the face of the law. Through my practice, I have been able to give more people access to the justice system with the help of a competent legal counsel without the high dollar price tag they would otherwise face.
Military Service, having been through my own divorce and custody battle, and my desire and passion to see justice done.
They interested me and seem to be the most interesting. Not to mention there are more opportunities to help real people in these areas.
I have met many wonderful people who have all blessed my life in one way or another.
Our firm focuses on the whole person, not just the immediate problem they are facing.
I am a good listener and have a gentle personality. My focus is on service before self, attention to detail, and excellence in all things.
