I take advantage of continuing legal education seminars that enhance my skills in litigation and that broaden my expertise in the areas of small business and family law.
My article, "Can the Electronic Bill of Lading Go Paperless" was published in the Fall 2006 edition of "The International Lawyer," an American Bar Association publication.
I recently assisted a client to receive a fair property settlement, through a combination of litigation and mediation, for property that she and her boyfriend had acquired together over the years, but that he had placed solely in his name.

I help my family law clients resolve questions of property division, form parenting plans, arrange child support, and look after other legal questions that arise when couples end their relationship. When it is possible to do this amicably, or through mediation, I work to keep the discussion calm and constructive. If litigation is necessary, I am prepared to do what is necessary to legally help my client reach a fair outcome.
My firm opened its doors on December 1, 2006 at its present location.
Prior to becoming an attorney, I successfully operated my own small business, an international freight forwarder, for over twelve years.
Every year, I participate as a pro bono attorney in the Immigrant Families Advocacy Project at the University of Washington School of Law, a program that serves victims of domestic abuse. I also provide seminars for small business owners concerning business law.
Family law clients who are educated about the law are in a better position to get through their family law matters, even when they have retained an attorney. Informed clients will have a better understanding of what is and is not a reasonable expectation, and how they can help to make things move forward with as little emotional stress as possible, given the difficult situation.
In the arena of family law, I am delighted to review documents as part of unbundled services.
For family law matters, I am happy to provide "unbundled services" to clients who prefer to represent themselves. I provide coaching and direction as the client requests, and at the client's request may also appear for the limited purpose of representing the client at a hearing. Full representation is simply not always economically within reach for those who are facing a family law matter.
I enjoy working independently for myself. I also enjoy the satisfaction that comes from knowing that the work that I am doing will make a difference to my clients.
I've been through family law matters personally, and so I understand how difficult these changes can be, even when all parties agree.
I practice both small business and family law. I began family law practice because I found that there was a demand for attorneys who did not wish to unnecessarily "stir the pot." I continue in family law practice because I learned that, although this is a stressful area of law, it can also be a very gratifying one.
I enjoy being able to do work that is challenging, engaging, and, I hope, makes someone else?s life a little better. I also enjoy working for myself.
I am a solo practitioner, so I deal with all of my clients personally and look after every aspect of their legal matters.
I tend to remain calm and in control even when those around me become emotional, irrational, or belligerent. This means I do not become unnecessarily swept away when the opposing side is acting unreasonably, but continue calmly to press for what is in my client's best interests. This also means that when the opposing side is also acting rationally, a resolution can often be reached more quickly and inexpensively.
I enjoy participating in Toastmasters and Mensa. I am an avid reader, and I spend much more time than I should playing in the kitchen.
I handle everything personally.

Yes
For matters where all parties are in agreement, following an initial consultation, I often can provide a flat rate for a particular service, such as dissolving a marriage.
$200.
I do not charge for the initial consultation. The initial consultation lasts for as long as it takes me to get a clear understanding of my client's legal needs, decide whether I am the right attorney for that client, and provide that client with the information he or she needs to decide whether to retain me. Generally, this takes under thirty minutes, but can take longer.
I limit my retainer to the amount I think will be necessary to resolve the matter. My retainers, therefore, can be almost any amount. Clients may also use credit cards instead of retainers.
Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.
Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
