I have helped a number of clients save money, successfully negotiate with creditors, and fight off foreclosure in and out of bankruptcy. In one case I was able to help a client who was seeking to discharge student loans. The resulting negotiations with the banks saved him a considerable amount of money and helped him return to financial stability.

Cohen and Wolf is a full service law firm, dedicated to meeting the needs of its clients in a broad range of practice areas. Our clients include individuals, businesses large and small, and municipalities. Our firm handles everything from large, complex commercial transactions to litigation to estate planning and administration. In fact, our 28 attorneys practice in more than 17 areas of law.
Cohen and Wolf was started in 1951 by partners Herbert Cohen and Austin Wolf in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Since then, the firm has expanded to include 48 attorneys, nearly 100 employees, and 4 offices. While headquartered in Bridgeport, the firm maintains offices in Westport, Danbury, and Orange as well. One of our founders, Austin Wolf continues to play an active role at the firm.
Before joining Cohen and Wolf in 1997, I worked with a small firm in Westport.

It is important for clients to educate themselves on bankruptcy so that they understand the process. At the same time, clients should be aware that the laws and procedures can be complex and difficult to make sense of. They must also understand that there is no solution that works for all clients. What might be the right answer for one client might be completely wrong for another. My 15 years of experience helps me guide the client to the best solutions for their unique situation.
Once I am retained by a client, I am always happy to review any documents related to their situation, regardless of who prepared them.
I am always willing to provide free consultation to clients. In some cases the client might have a very straightforward situation which he/she feels they can handle without legal representation. In other cases, after consultation, they may realize that there are additional complexities to their situation and the bankruptcy process. When that happens, retaining the services of an experienced attorney will provide the client with the best outcome and save them the most in the long run.
I have always enjoyed solving problems. As an attorney I am asked to assist clients with solving problems every day. Each client brings a unique story and a unique situation. I rely on my experience and training to find the solution that will work best for them.
Listening and creative problem solving is what makes a lawyer most effective. I listen to my clients so that I can understand the challenges that they face and then I find the solution that works best for them. There is no one solution that works for everyone. Sometimes bankruptcy is the solution, sometimes it is not. I work with my clients to determine what is best for them.
As a young associate attorney I was exposed to a number of different practice areas. Although I have narrowed the focus my practice to only a few areas, this broad experience has made me a better attorney. Often when advising clients regarding a potential bankruptcy, I am able to draw on my own broad experience and the expertise of other attorneys at my firm to give my clients the best representation.
I like working with my clients to help them solve their problems. Each case brings a new situation with its own unique challenges that must be solved. With bankruptcy in particular, I am satisfied when I know that I have helped my client get past a very stressful situation so that they can begin to put their lives back together.
I am proud to work in a full-service law firm that handles a broad range of cases for our clients. The diversity of experience and expertise that I can draw on when needed helps me solve problems for my clients. At Cohen and Wolf, all of our people are professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. My assistant Karen is very capable and attentive, ensuring that the process is handled efficiently and effectively.
I like to meet with clients, listen to the details of their situation and what their expectations are. From there, I find the best solution, then move quickly and efficiently to handle their case so that they can move on with their lives as soon as possible. I understand that bankruptcy is a stressful situation which is best handled quickly.
I am active in the local community and in the local government. I enjoy spending time with my family as well as hiking and cycling.
