Example Cases

A recent client had an oilfield services company that was overextended and could not sustain debt service, either personally or professionally. Ebert Law Office, P.C. was able to eliminate over 2.7 million dollars in personal and business debt, and due to Ebert Law Office, P.C.'s expertise and aggressive use of bankruptcy exemptions, the client was able to keep his home, personal vehicles and quite a few business assets which gave the client the fresh start the bankruptcy code was originally created to do. This client has gone on to refer others to our firm, which is why over fifty percent of our business is referral based.

Firm Focus and History

Ebert Law Office, P.C. has been a family owned law firm since its inception over 40 years ago. David and Carey Ebert have a combined bankruptcy experience of more than 39 years. Personal attention by the attorneys to all of our clients separates us from other bankruptcy law firms.

Previous Employment Summary

My father started this law firm, so from a very young age I have been around bankruptcy law.

Activities and Awards

AV- Rated Martindale-Hubbell, President Tarrant County Debtors' Bar association 2002 to 2009; Tarrant County Bankruptcy Bar - President; Tarrant County Bankruptcy Bar - Vice President; Tarrant County Bankruptcy Bar Attorney of the Year.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

To use a tired cliché, knowledge is power. Ebert Law Office, P.C. encourages our current and future clients to gain as much knowledge as they can about bankruptcy, but they can also rely on the fact they have retained us for our knowledge and expertise so that they can be as stress-free as possible during this time.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Unfortunately, most bankruptcy documents are very district specific and generic forms, for the most part, cannot be used. Fortunately for the client, when they retain Ebert Law Office, P.C., they can take comfort in that we prepare every document necessary to obtain relief in bankruptcy for them.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

It is a fact that an individual is constitutionally protected to appear before the court pro se. The bankruptcy code is so complex that it has taken years to master. It is extremely difficult to reduce that knowledge into anecdotal information for an untrained person to utilize it properly.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

It was my desire to continue the legacy of serving the community that my father started, when he created this law firm over 30 years ago.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

Hearing the stories of how my father was able to help so many people through bankruptcy, while I was growing up, inspired me to want to share in that same feeling that he got every time he helped families get a fresh start.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

The Bankruptcy Code is one of the last few bastions of the law that truly allow someone to get a fresh start and begin their life anew.

What do you like best about your career?

The fact that every day I get to walk into my office and know that my clients lives are going to improve due to the efforts that myself and my staff put forth.

Tell us about your law firm:

First off, we are one of the rare law firms that an attorney, myself or my wife Carey, meet with every client for their free initial consultation. Second, I am very proud of the quality of the staff at our office. All of our paralegals have more than 10 years bankruptcy experience and our legal assistants are all college educated.

What are your strengths and style?

At the Ebert Law Offices our strength lies in our experience and knowledge. Carey and I have a combined bankruptcy experience of over 39 years. Carey is Board Certified in Consumer Bankruptcy and is currently the President of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, which has over 4,000 members. I have served as the past President of the Tarrant County Debtor's Bar Association and have helped thousands of clients become debt free. Our style is rooted in filing the bankruptcy right the first time.

Personal Interests:

I was born and raised in the Mid-Cities, so my interests lie within our community. I follow my children's education and sporting events, and I stay active in community events and politics.
