Firm Focus and History

Curry, Pearson & Wooten, PLC, has cultivated a reputation with our clients and within the legal community as a collection of experienced attorneys delivering aggressive and innovative services in a cost-effective manner. While we have the technological resources and offer the work product expected from a large law firm, we retain the small firm efficiency and focus on personal attention to client needs that has always characterized the firm's practice.

We strive to provide effective legal services with the performance and technical resources of a large firm, while retaining the personal client interaction and cost-effectiveness of a small firm. We do it by placing a premium on flexibility, state-of-the-art technology, personal integrity, and a philosophy in which the client's needs are paramount.

We pride ourselves on the human and technical resources we have developed to serve our clients and maintain a state-of-the-art computer system. Our most important resource, however, is human. Our support staff of paralegals and legal assistants enables us to serve clients as efficiently and economically as possible, and to maintain personal contact with clients under any circumstances.

Our attorneys often work together as a team to meet the needs and serve the interests of our clients. This kind of flexibility allows us to adapt to developments and react quickly and efficiently to pressing concerns, while placing the diverse experience and expertise of the entire firm at the client's disposal. Curry, Pearson & Wooten, PLC, is committed to performing legal services in a professional and efficient manner, and we take great pride in the work we do for our clients.

Our goal in providing legal services is straightforward and direct: to satisfy the customer. That process involves more than delivering legal performance that serves the needs of the client. It calls for developing a working relationship founded on mutual understanding and trust. We endeavor to keep clients informed and actively involved in decisions affecting their legal interest, and we strive to earn the client's respect by demonstrating personal integrity and honesty.

If you need a considerate, yet aggressive, criminal lawyer, Curry, Pearson & Wooten, PLC, is here to help. Although based in Phoenix, Arizona, we represent individuals and companies nationally and throughout the world.

Curry, Pearson & Wooten, PLC, was created one afternoon over lunch and handshakes. Three experienced civil and criminal litigation attorneys decided to bring their experience and skills to a small firm setting, with a joint commitment to quality representation and the establishment of close client relationships.

The attorneys of Curry, Pearson & Wooten, PLC, make up an effective team, able to take on the most complex and challenging criminal issues facing you, or a member of your family. Our lawyers have litigated high-profile cases in various courts throughout Arizona.

Located in downtown Phoenix in the H.Q. Story Historic District Curry, Pearson & Wooten, PLC, is in the heart of the downtown corridor, adjacent to the federal and state courts, agencies, and governmental bodies with which we interact. Our clients are quite varied and range from businesses to individuals of every type. We offer a full range of legal services to meet the needs of a broad variety of clients, ranging from high-profile cases to small pro bono matters undertaken as a public service.

For over 100 years, LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell has provided the legal community with its Lawyer Rating system, which is based exclusively on a peer-review process. The Ratings have become a useful resource for evaluating lawyers for hiring as outside counsel, for referrals, or for when seeking co-counsel in another jurisdiction.

The peer review process includes seeking confidential rating opinions from judges, and opposing attorneys, and canvassing the entire legal community for opinions regarding an attorney's legal ability and adherence to ethical standards. Most attorneys never achieve a rating. There are three possible ratings for those who do: CV, BV, or AV. Only a small percentage of attorneys achieve the AV-rating. These attorneys have demonstrated to their colleagues that they possess the highest quality in legal ability and adhere to the highest legal ethics. The AV-rating is the gold standard in measuring an attorney's reputation and ability.

Martindale-Hubbell's Ratings are considered invaluable when evaluating a lawyer. When looking for an attorney, making referrals, or looking for counsel in another jurisdiction, lawyers and prospective clients need to have confidence in the individual under consideration. By reviewing the Ratings, they can select counsel with superior ethics, as well as the desired level of professional experience.

Our law firm is rated AV by this Rating System. “A” is the highest rating in terms of quality of legal services and “V” is the highest in terms of professional ethics. In addition, several of our attorneys are individually rated “AV”. These ratings attest to a lawyer's legal ability and professional ethics, and reflect the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and Judiciary.

Curry, Pearson & Wooten is listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. The Bar Register is a unique guide to the legal community's most eminent professionals. It includes only those select law practices that have earned the highest AV-rating in the Martindale-Hubbell® Law Directory and that have been designated by their colleagues as preeminent in their field.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I support the same. In addition, when the matter is of a serious nature, an educated client understands, or has the capacity to understand, the complexity of litigation and therefore an understanding of the role and necessity of attorneys in the criminal process.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Typically, a review happens on consult. Criminal matters are very difficult to counsel on a self-help basis. Therefore, we are not likely to engage such a client.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Criminal matters are very difficult to counsel on a self-help basis. Therefore, we are not likely to engage such a client.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

To assist people with a complex system that affects all aspects of one's life. I want to assist people and help them navigate through criminal issues during a very difficult and trying time in their lives.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I genuinely have a natural love for people and a desire to assist them with their life problems. Working to resolve problems at a minimal impact to my client's lives is one of my personal attributes.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I love litigation and trial work. Criminal law is a practice area in which lawyers have an opportunity to be in the courtroom frequently.

What do you like best about your career?

Assisting clients who have been unfairly or wrongly charged. Helping clients through a very difficult time in their lives and minimizing, as much as possible, the negatives that may often accompany criminal matters.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am a partner in a highly regarded litigation firm with 5 lawyers. I have a fabulous paralegal who is very knowledgeable and interacts with all the clients on a regular basis to assist with the process and provide guidance. She truly treats client's issues as they are her own.

What are your strengths and style?

Firm knowledge of criminal law and procedure. Diligent, detail-oriented, honest approach, caring, and strong advocate for clientele. Honest and straightforward approach with clients, opposing party and/or opposing counsel, and the Court. Our firm is also structured to handle cases regardless of size or complexity.

Personal Interests:

On a personal note, I train show horses. I also love spending time with my family and traveling.
