Firm Focus and History

The focus of the firm is to provide comprehensive legal advice to clients with a no-nonsense approach.

The firm was established in 2006 in Jackson, Mississippi with a focus on Business, Criminal and Family Law.

Previous Employment Summary

My previous employment was with a now defunct telecommunications company - MCI Worldcom. I was there for over ten years in a management position in software development. I went to law school at the age of 47 and received a law degree at the age of 50. I have practiced solo since then.

Activities and Awards

Pro bono legal work with Mississippi Volunteer Legal Project.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I advise clients to always evaluate the circumstances of the dispute and determine whether a letter written to the other party will help assist in reaching a compromise.

In all matters in which children are involved, I urge compassion and compromise, if possible.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I will review and provide feedback for a nominal fee.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I will work with clients who want to represent themselves for a nominal fee.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I became a lawyer because I was disappointed in my experiences with lawyers in the past. I felt that I was not provided with the law and therefore I did not make decisions based on the law and not emotions. I always want my clients to understand the law and understand where the law is flexible and where it is not. I always tell male clients that child support is not optional! I tell female clients that visitation is a father's right and should not be withheld as punishment. I always try to get the parties to find common ground.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I became a lawyer late in life. I had experienced a career that spanned 30 years and those life experiences have taught me compassion, compromise, and empathy. I am most happy when I end up with happy clients and I truly am happy when it ends up with both sides winning!

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I have a passion for Family Law because I really love children and I enjoy making sure that there interest come first.

What do you like best about your career?

The people that I meet everyday are what I like best about my career. There are a few days that I meet difficult people but overall, people are great!

Tell us about your law firm:

I collaborate with a couple of lawyers and we feed off of each other's experiences. I deal with most of my clients directly.

What are your strengths and style?

I am a happy person and it shows! I am always smiling and almost never upset. If I am, it is really bad!!!

Personal Interests:

I enjoy reading, fishing, just spending quiet time alone, and Dress For Success - Metro Jackson.
