Firm Focus and History

We provide ethical, zealous legal representation for our clients in personal injury and Social Security disability law by attracting, developing, and advocating meritorious cases and keeping our clients informed all along the way.

I established the firm in 1991 as a personal injury law firm. After six successful years, we started our Social Security practice and have grown to be leaders in both practices.

Previous Employment Summary

• United States Air Force - Judge Advocate, 10 years.
• Joe Weiss and Associates, 1 year. I could not stay with a firm that did not do the right thing. Mr. Weiss was disbarred by the Texas Bar about a year after I left.
• Law Offices of Ed Goldner, since 1991.

Activities and Awards

Eagle Scout, gardener, table tennis player, backpacker, finance department for four kids going to college, and traveler.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Any and all support should be given to help people take care of themselves. There will always be a need for attorneys for more complex cases and for clients who are unable or unwilling to represent themselves.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I will review documents, but I sell my expertise. My charge would be hourly based on the document.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I will coach clients, but again, I sell my time. My charge would be hourly.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

John Kennedy was a lawyer and he was our President. In kindergarten, I wanted to be a lawyer to become President. As I grew, I became involved in college debate and my interest in representing clients in court grew from there.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

Oddly enough, my kids. When they were very young, they taught me much about manipulation. I became a much better advocate and cross-examiner from my dealings with them. And then there are the 200 trials I have been lead counsel in. And the fact that I have led a multi-lawyer office since 1991. Finally, it was the 10,000 or so personal injury and Social Security disability clients I have represented over the years.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

Courtroom advocacy representing a person against a large company. I first experienced it representing Air Force criminal defendants against the Air Force. I love to win when the odds are stacked against me.

What do you like best about your career?

The people I interact with in my office. Be it my employees or my clients, I enjoy the give and take.

Tell us about your law firm:

The five lawyers and 20 staff members in my firm represent many personal injury and Social Security disability clients. We do what is right - every time. Sometimes that means that other people get more money than the law firm. Sometimes that means that we don't represent some people. As long as I run this firm, we won't sacrifice the right thing for expedience.

What are your strengths and style?

Straight forward, honest, empathetic, and zealous in the court room, I have always been able to speak on my feet. Cross-examination and final argument are my specialties.

Personal Interests:

Surviving four teenagers, gardening, reading, cooking, traveling, and backpacking.
