The firm is a business law firm, with a focus on business transactions, corporate, securities, and tax matters. We represent many new and emerging companies and help them manage their growth in all aspects - from formation to employment issues to raising investment capital. Our job is to assist them in growing strong and profitable companies.
I have been in private practice since 1985 and have been a partner in a small firm, a partner in a large regional law firm, and in my own practice for over 15 years.

It is very important that clients educate themselves about legal issues. I have found in my long practice that the more educated a client is on the issues, the more effectively I can represent them. I try to explain the issues clearly to the client and present them with the options as well as my recommendations on what option to choose.
I am glad to prepare documents prepared by clients. I often ask clients to draft an outline of a contract to assist me in preparing the contract itself. This helps the client to organize his or her thoughts and to consider the issues before I begin to draft. It makes me more efficient as an attorney and helps me represent the client in a cost-efficient manner.
I have sometimes recommended that a client file a Small Claims court action and will coach them on how to do that.
I have always been interested in using my skills to persuade people. As a nationally ranked competitive debater in both high school and college, I honed my skills in persuasion. I enjoy helping people to establish, grow, and protect their businesses.
I have done many things in my career. I have been with a Committee of the U. S. House of Representatives, an antitrust prosecutor, and a private practice attorney. I have also owned a multi-site business with over 150 employees, and have been a founder and board member of several national trade associations. Each of these life experiences has helped me to understand how these organizations work and how to represent them effectively.
I chose to orient my practice around business and transactional work because I enjoy helping business people negotiate deals. I also enjoy helping businesses get through the inevitable tough times and difficult situations. It is satisfying to know that you have helped someone be successful in their business endeavors.
I have been able to shape my practice to fit my personal interests and I love what I do. I have been able to work with a number of wonderful people, both colleagues and clients in my career.
I am a solo practitioner and also "Of Counsel" to several other attorneys in my suite, who provide excellent support through their terrific staff. They know that I care very much about being accessible to my client and supporting my clients as much as possible.
My strength is the ability to listen to my clients and identify what their goals are. I try to be a true "counselor" to them, advising them on legal issues, and, if they wish, talking with them about their business goals as well. I am very informal and very accessible to my clients. I return calls and emails promptly and keep my clients informed about what I am doing on a regular basis. My clients know that I really care about them, because I really do. I treat the smallest individual client in the same way that I treat my largest corporate client.
I love to play golf and ski. I keep fit with regular workouts and am trying to get back into biking! I love to spend time with my family and have organized several family reunions lately.
