I submit small "snippets" of information in the local monthly bar magazine as Chairman of the Bankruptcy Committee.
1. Disabled veteran with income of less than $1,000 per month owned home free and clear. It was worth more than the new Bankruptcy Law of 2005 allowed. Trustee tried to take home to sell and pay excess to creditors. I objected and defended client.
Result: Court ruled in favor of client. Distinguished new rule which now allows all state residents with value increases due to long term ownership and appreciated value to retain their homes and equity.
2. Trustee wanted 82 year old retiree's two-year-old car to sell to pay creditors. Car had been paid for by client's daughter. I negotiated limited settlement, allowing the client to keep the car and make minimum payments over several months and saved daughters investment.
3. Single mother hired "contractor" to add bedroom to her home. Contractor took advantage by doing shoddy, incomplete work, and billing for overcharges not authorized. When the mother objected, the contractor liened her home and sued to take her home away from her. Because of mother's limited budget, I enforced arbitration clause in contract rather than trial.
Result: Lien nullified by arbitrator as well as inflated charges. Contractor forced to repay the mother's losses and costs of corrective work.

I encourage clients to review as much information as they can, before and during the process. "Well-informed clients are better able to help me help them."
If a client is represented by me, there is no reason for the client to prepare any documents. I cannot provide legal advice outside of the representation.
I cannot provide legal advice outside of the representation.
Strangely enough I was a cancer patient when I started law school. I was acutely aware of the abuse that most of the population suffered in many areas of life from the so called leaders of society and simply hoped to be able to redress some of it. Twenty years later, I find myself focused on bankruptcy law.
We are client focused. More than just filling out legal forms, my philosophy is to try to give you, the client, the best result possible from a total perspective. Besides my law degree and an MBA, more than 40 years of combined business and legal experience helps me achieve the best result I can get for you.
