I had a client who, before she came to see me, had signed up with a debt settlement agency to try to get a handle on her credit card debt. She was paying a fairly large amount of money to this agency each month, but did not feel like she was getting much in return. Her creditors were still calling. When she came to see me about filing bankruptcy, she was really worried about what would happen with her contract with the debt agency. Under a chapter 7 bankruptcy, debt to a debt settlement agency is discharged. I was able to help her not only discharge her credit card debt, but the money she owed the debt agency as well.

I think it can be beneficial to clients to educate themselves on their legal issues in order to better understand the legal process; however, I believe it is important for clients to also discuss what they have learned with an attorney who can analyze and interpret the client's legal issues based on that attorney's education and expertise.
I am happy to review documents prepared by clients.
This is not a service that I offer.
When I was in high school, I knew I wanted to do something that would help others and make the world a bit better in some way. My junior year, I participated in a program called Teen Court. In my first case, I represented one of my classmates for a failure to stop ticket that she believed was unjustly issued. Arguing to a jury of our peers, I was able to reduce her community service hours nearly in half. My client was happy and I enjoyed helping her. I hadn't changed the world, but I made my client's life a bit better (even if it was just a traffic ticket). It is what I like about being a lawyer.
My parents taught me to treat others with respect and dignity and to always help someone in need if I am able. I know that these values not only make me a better lawyer, but also make me a better person in general.
As a solo practitioner, I handle cases where there is the greatest need in the areas of law in which I have experience. Primarily, I handle bankruptcy, family law, and wills and estates. In this economy, bankruptcy has become my primary area of practice.
I enjoy helping others. It is an honor and privilege to be able to use my knowledge to solve a legal issue in someone's life that is causing them so much stress and worry.
I am a solo practitioner, so all of my clients deal directly with me.
I am a good listener, easy to talk to, and I will be direct and honest with you about your case.
I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two girls.
