My firm focuses on personal injury from the minor to the catastrophic. This includes motor vehicle accidents, defective products, motorcycle accidents, slip and fall, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and more. I also work to help those injured at work in Worker's Compensation Court.
After graduating from Boston College Law School I worked as an associate for a premier law firm in Boston. During this time, I always hoped to return to Providence and open up my own practice, which I was fortunate enough to do in early 2009.
Prior to law school I spent several years as an injury adjuster for a large national insurance company. I handled several hundred cases including scarring, fractures, head injuries, spinal injuries, and even death. Following law school, I continued to work in the area of personal injury with one of New England's largest and best known personal injury firms.
I encourage clients to learn and understand as much about the law and circumstances of their case as possible. That being said, the law is extremely complex and confusing, and therefore, clients need to keep a steady and open stream of communication with their attorney.
As part of any investigation and review of a case, I will review documents prepared by my clients.
If I believe the matter is relatively minor and can be easily resolved, I may offer my advice to someone who insists on representing themselves. I discourage the practice, however, and advise any person to work with a lawyer. There is simply too much that can go wrong if the case is not properly handled.
During my prior work experience, I engaged in negotiations, mediations, and trial preparation. I loved it and knew that I wanted to practice law for a living. The decision has been even more rewarding than anticipated since I have the opportunity to positively impact my clients' lives and help people in need.
My experience as an adjuster gives me a unique perspective as a plaintiff lawyer. I understand the strategies that insurance companies use and how they evaluate the merit and financial value of claims. This is extremely useful knowledge that very few lawyers have. Most attorneys spend an entire career working either for plaintiffs or insurance companies and fail to truly understand what the other side is thinking. I have worked on both sides and can use that knowledge to the benefit of my clients.
I help people put their lives back together after a terrible event. I can't think of a better area of practice to be in.
My work is very rewarding because I am able to help people put their lives back together after an accident and injury.
I am a sole practitioner, so all of my clients deal directly with me.
I think that my strength is that I do not adhere to a single style. Sometimes the situation calls for an aggressive and tough lawyer and sometimes a negotiation calls for a lawyer to be personable and agreeable. My strength is knowing what the situation calls for and adjusting to ensure that my client obtains the best possible result.
When not practicing the law, I am an avid reader and soccer fan, particularly for my club Liverpool F.C.
