What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

The better a client is prepared and educated, the easier it is to communicate about complicated issues. Bankruptcy involves many concepts and legal situations foreign to most people. I like having clients who take the extra effort to learn.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I encourage clients not to attempt to practice law. Document preparation should be left to someone with the training expertise and experience to avoid unintended consequences. However, I will review most anything a client wants me to.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I strongly discourage pro se litigation in Bankruptcy. It is hard enough for those of us that know what we're doing.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I have always had a strong desire to help and assist people with problems they can't handle by themselves. Representing Bankruptcy clients gives me a personal satisfaction in helping return them control over their financial lives. During the past eight years since I have focused on Bankruptcy issues, I have seen what tremendous assistance I can be to people struggling with debt issues.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

Having a wide variety of experience in financial and commercial transactions has greatly assisted me in providing exceptional service to my clients. The broad background I have assists me in dealing with clients from all levels and stages of life.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

People are more affected by financial issues than any other problem. Marriage stability, emotional stability, and self-respect are damaged when a person is struggling with financial problems. I truly enjoy helping people regain control of their lives.

What do you like best about your career?

My greatest satisfaction comes from seeing the stress and strain removed from the clients I service. Seeing the smile on their faces and the twinkle in their eyes after an initial consultation makes all my hard work extremely fulfilling.

Tell us about your law firm:

My two partners and I work extremely well together. Our support staff is excellent. They treat people with respect and dignity, and go the extra mile to assist clients through the confusing maze of Bankruptcy paperwork requirements.

What are your strengths and style?

I'm a good listener. I am empathetic to the challenges people are going through. I like to fight for the underdog against abusive mortgage companies and creditors.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy outside activities such as fishing, boating, hunting, camping and anything that brings me in contact with God's magnificent creations.
