Successful outcomes:
1. Elimination of a second and third mortgage loan on a client's home because the value of her home was less than the balance owed on her first mortgage. This allowed her to "value" her second and third mortgage balances to zero and eliminate the payments on both those mortgages saving her hundreds of dollars a month.
2. Helped a client recover her car after it was repossessed for past due car payments. After she recovered her car she was able to lower her car payment in a Chapter 13 case because she was able to pay the remaining balance off over 5 years at 7.25% interest.
3. Stopped I.R.S. wage levies and the elimination of thousands of dollars in unpaid income taxes that were more than three years old.
4. Obtained the dismissal of an erroneously filed mortgage foreclosure action brought in error by the first mortgage holder.

I focus exclusively on Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 consumer bankruptcy cases.
I opened my office in November of 2007.
Prior to starting my bankruptcy law practice, I was in private practice in Greenville, South Carolina working on residential and commercial real estate, mortgage, foreclosures, and general corporate law. I then was in house counsel with a privately owned residential mortgage lender that originated residential mortgage loans in 35 states. Lastly, I was in house counsel for a federal savings bank with a mortgage operations center located in Columbia, South Carolina.
I do Pro-Bono work with the South Carolina Bar Association. I also participate in the South Carolina Private Attorney Involvement program representing clients that qualify for services from the South Carolina Legal Services Corporation. Moreover, I volunteer as a Guardian ad Litem for minors in child abuse and neglect cases brought by the Department of Social Services.

I strongly encourage all my prospective and current clients to spend as much time as they can to get familiar with their options in and out of bankruptcy. Clients cannot make an informed opinion about how to deal with debts that they are not able to pay until they are familiar with how those debts will be dealt with both outside and inside bankruptcy.
I recommend that clients let me review any documents that they are considering sending to their creditors.
I have not done that before in the bankruptcy context but would consider doing it on a case by case basis. It happens more frequently in debt collection actions outside the context of a bankruptcy.
I wanted to do something that was interesting that would let me support myself and my family.
Prior to becoming an attorney, I worked with two different banks making and collecting consumer loans. Since becoming a lawyer, I have worked almost exclusively with consumer financial law issues for lenders and borrowers.
I wanted to do something that would let me work with individuals.
I like the freedom of being self-employed and working with individuals that need my help.
I am a solo-practitioner and deal with all my clients directly. I do everything from answering the phone to appearing in court with my clients.
I am detailed, thorough, conscientious, hard working and friendly.
I like spending time with my wife and two children when I am not working.
