Personal Injury
We are a litigation firm. A large part of our practice is devoted to family law matters, involving issues such as child custody, child support, divorce, separation, equitable distribution, property division, alimony, and spousal support. We also handle serious personal injury claims. My wife and I practice together, and she, in addition to family law, also practices criminal defense law. I also handle general civil litigation matters.

We are a litigation firm. We do not handle any transactional matters such as real estate closings and drafting of wills. We spend a great deal of time in the Courtroom. As far as our practice, we're focused on providing aggressive, timely, and compassionate legal services primarily in Cabarrus, Rowan and Stanley counties. Occasionally, for the right case, we will handle matters in Courts outside of those counties.
The firm originally got its start back in the first part of 2007 when my wife and I were in law school together. We were on a mock trial team together and were also members of the same law fraternity. Both of us relocated to Cabarrus county after passing the bar exam and initially worked for other firms here in town. In March of this year, I started this firm and in July my wife joined me.
I was an associate attorney for Black, Grossman and Cain, PA.
That's great! It's a good thing, provided that their understanding of the legal issues are complemented and supplemented by the attorney's advice and experience.
At this time our firm does not offer document review services. Due to the demand for our services we focus solely on representing individuals in the Courts.
Abraham Lincoln once said, "The man who represents himself has a fool for a client." As a general rule it is never a good idea to represent yourself in any case other than small claims matters. That bit of wisdom aside, due to the demand for our services we focus solely on representing individuals in the Courts.
For the jokes. But seriously, I really did (and still do) want to help people somehow for a living. Also, after working in landscaping for a few years I was pretty sure I didn't want to work outside all of my life.
Before I decided to pursue a career in law I worked in the landscaping business. I decided to pursue a career as an attorney. I spent almost every day working with my hands performing some of the most grueling physical labor there is to do out there.
I come from a family with a lot of pretty significant difficulties, which gives me good insight and the ability to empathize with my clients and what they are going through when dealing with separation and divorce.
I'm also a grateful recovering alcoholic. My personal struggles with addiction and adventures in sobriety have been a true asset to me in the day-to-day practice of law. In fact, I'd say my experience in recovery has probably been the greatest asset of all and makes me infinitely more effective in my practice than I otherwise would be.
It felt right. Just came naturally. So I guess I didn't choose my primary areas of practice, they chose me.
I really love working with my wife. She's the greatest. We have a great time bouncing ideas off of one another and helping each other out. As far as the practice of law goes, I love being able to help my clients through some difficult times. I'm interested in seeing my clients (and myself, too) become better people as a result of the attorney-client relationship.
My wife is my law partner and best friend. Currently, we have two excellent support staff members who are tremendous at what they do and are very valuable to the firm. We anticipate adding additional staff members in the future as we grow. As a small firm, we are able to provide our clients with a high level of personal attention and service.
Strengths - I listen to my clients. I don't presume to have all the answers. I'm not afraid to answer a question with "I don't know." I really do care about my clients and want to see good things for them. I'm also straightforward with my clients and not afraid to tell them things they don't want to hear. Sometimes the reality of a situation is a difficult thing to swallow. When a client comes to me with a problem, I try to help them address it in a manner that will result in a long-term solution. In short, I don't want to my clients to have to keep on hiring me to address the same thing.
Style - Aggressive, yet compassionate, pit bull of a lawyer. Not afraid at all to bring cases to trial where the situation calls for it.
I love the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) and am a huge fan of mixed martial arts. I love my dog, a 12 year old pit bull named Peaches. I love hanging out with my wife, she's my best friend. I've also been known to compete in some triathlons in the past.

No fixed price services. For each matter we handle, fees are determined by the specific facts and circumstances of each case. It is a rare thing for us to accept a contested family law matter without a minimum initial payment of $3,500. Often we require more. Personal injury matters are based on a contingency fee, and for civil litigation matters, fees are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Ranges from $150 to $200, depending on the type of matter. Family law matters generally command $200 per hour.
On injury related matters we do provide a free initial consultation. In all other matters we charge a consultation fee of $150.
See above fees.
