Bankruptcy
Chapter 7, Chapter 13, Debt Negotiations, Foreclosure, Loan Modification.
DC, Apr 2004
Bar Number: 485918
Court of Appeals of Maryland, District of Columbia Court of Appeals, United States District Court for the District of Maryland, United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
I attend continuing legal education seminars quarterly on topics of bankruptcy, estate planning, and elder law.
Many of my bankruptcy cases involve clients who have been impacted by the severe downturn in the real estate market (realtors, mortgage brokers, title companies), an increase in monthly expenses that are out of their control (adjusted rates for subprime mortgages, increased cost of food, gas, and utilities), the loss of a job, or a prolonged illness. Bankruptcy is never a first choice for the clients that I have dealt with, rather it is a much needed way to start over financially. Most clients keep their homes, vehicles, and other assets, while eliminating their crushing debt. Other clients have utilized bankruptcy to get out from under unwise home or vehicle purchases.

Adams Law Office, LLC was established to provide detailed-oriented and individualized legal services for each client at an affordable price. We focus on the belief that excellent legal counsel incorporates rather than excludes personal care and concern. It is our goal to go above and beyond for every client and provide caring Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy assistance for those facing foreclosure, harassing creditor calls, or overwhelming debts and financial stress.
Our practice areas are bankruptcy (Chapter 7 and Chapter 13), business formation (LLCs, S Corporations, Non-Profits, Corporations), estate planning (wills, trusts, durable powers of attorney, living wills/advance directives), and personal injury. For more information, go to http://www.adamslawoffice.net/aboutalo.html.
Adams Law Office, LLC was established in 2002 as a solo practice and has purposefully remained so. I take pride in providing individualized service to each client and enjoy the personal contact that a solo practice affords.
My legal experience includes years of personal injury work in two prominent Montgomery County law firms. I have also worked in the General Counsel's office of a major utility in the Washington metropolitan area handling general corporate law and contract matters. In addition, my experience includes working in a "big-four" accounting firm in the areas of general corporate taxation, financial services, state and local taxation, accounting methods, quality and standards, and real estate taxation. One of my goals is to fill in the information gaps for clients who have been unable to find the answers to their questions or have tried unsuccessfully to research the legal implications involved in their cases. With the vast amount of resources available online, oftentimes clients are overwhelmed with the information they have found or are unable to sort through what will actually apply to their situation. I offer free initial consultations to hopefully provide those key pieces of information that help clients to decide what route makes the most sense for them.
Part of the services provided in my bankruptcy practice involve reviewing client documents and making sure that what is submitted to the court is legally effective.
This is not currently a part of my practice.
My personal skills are highly suited to the practice of law. I am very analytical, detail-oriented, organized, and meticulous, which makes for a very effective legal representative. I also enjoy helping people out of difficult situations and providing a positive outcome where there had been very little hope.
My Christian beliefs are the biggest part of who I am as a person. Those beliefs cause me to view my clients and their situations as more than just another case, but as an opportunity to caringly exceed expectations through excellent service. In the end, I am not just serving my clients, but also the Lord, and His standards are pretty high.
I chose bankruptcy as my primary area of practice because I enjoy helping people get a fresh start and because I am very good at it. I am naturally very organized, detail-oriented, and meticulous, which is essential for effectively preparing, managing, and positively concluding a bankruptcy case.
I most enjoy being my own boss. Running my own legal practice has always been a dream of mine, so every day is like a dream come true, as corny as that sounds.
I am a solo practitioner, and I believe that the individualized attention that I provide for each client is one of the most valuable features that my firm provides.
My strengths are that I am very detail-oriented, organized, meticulous, and experienced. I have a very positive and caring style, which my clients seem to really appreciate. I have had many clients comment that they feel much more relaxed and at ease about the bankruptcy process after speaking with me, which simply makes my day.
My primary interests are my faith, my five-year-old son, and my husband. Our favorite family activity is hiking, which we try to do every weekend in the summer. Another major weekend activity is assisting my husband, who is the children's Pastor at our church, where I have been a member for over 24 years.
