Firm Focus and History

The law firm of Munger and Munger, P.L.C. was founded in 1977 by Clark W. Munger and me. In 1997, Clark Munger was appointed to serve as a Superior Court Judge and the name of partner Mark E. Chadwick was added to the new firm name of Munger Chadwick, P.L.C. Martindale-Hubbell, an attorney directory and rating service, has given the law firm and me the A-V rating (the highest rating obtainable). In addition, I am listed in the "Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers" (representing three to five percent of the nation's lawyers). The Registry recognizes my expertise in the fields of Commercial Law and Real Estate Law. As well, I have been selected by my peers to be listed in the prestigious "Best Lawyers in America", which is recognized to be one of the most definitive guides to legal excellence in the United States.

The practice focuses on U.S., as well as international, business, commercial, corporate and real estate development, zoning and construction law, commercial and general civil litigation, international law, water, utilities, administrative, municipal, employment, immigration, collections law, insurance law, insurance defense appeals and lobbying. The firm is very active in lobbying at the local, state, and federal levels. As such, the firm is multi-dimensional and capable of solving problems for clients in all branches of government in a broad array of areas.

Munger Chadwick, P.L.C. currently consists of two partners, several associates, a government relations specialist, paralegals, and secretarial staff. Additionally, the firm is associated with Lawrence V. Robertson, Jr., as of counsel, whose primary practice is in the areas of water law, natural resources, regulated industries and municipalities. In March of 2002, the law firm of Lizárraga, Robles, Tapia y Cabrera S.C. of Hermosillo, Sonora, México, became associated with the firm on an of counsel basis, assisting the firm with legal matters in Mexico, and providing the firm with further presence there as well as the full capacity to represent clients in Mexico.

Munger Chadwick, P.L.C. provides high quality legal services comparable to those of the finest law firms in the United States. However, the law firm prides itself on personal service which a smaller firm can best provide. The firm's clients have included some of the largest companies in the world, as well as medium-sized and small firms operating only in Tucson.

In January 2006, the firm began an additional of counsel relationship with Michael J. Meehan, whose practice includes appeals, media law and commercial litigation.

Previous Employment Summary

I have been a partner of the firm for 33 years.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

It is helpful if clients try to educate themselves on the issues of the case. But they should do this principally through their attorney to assure: a) that the client is focusing correctly; and 2) the client and the attorney are able to communicate well.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am willing to do so, but viewing and then editing those documents often costs as much or more than if I simply drafted them myself.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

This is very dangerous for both the client and the attorney. I might do so only in the rarest cases.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I never wanted to do anything else. I love practicing law, believe it is what I am intended to do, and probably will never quit.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

Good lawyers need a broad range of life experiences. I love that.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I love business, creating value for clients.

What do you like best about your career?

I can add value to businesses and financial issues.

Tell us about your law firm:

We have wonderful attorneys, paralegals and staff who are attentive to all of our clients' immediate needs.

What are your strengths and style?

I am a fearless advocate, highly knowledgeable and am respected by other lawyers. I am highly experienced in business matters, generally believe common courtesy works in my clients' favor; however I will respond to overly aggressive behavior with strength. Other lawyers know that.

Personal Interests:

Riding my horse and reading are what I love to do in my spare time.
