What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I am all for it! An educated client is a good resource. The client lives with their legal problems 24/7. If they do research, I enjoy talking with them about it. They may find something in their personal research that can help their case. A client that is informed will be able to engage in their legal dilemma in a more proactive fashion and will also understand the process as it moves forward. Our office is equipped to support our clients with many internet links, suggested books to read and counseling services.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am willing to review these documents on an hourly rate basis. I understand there is a need to minimize legal expenses.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I would do this on an hourly basis in a simple case. It is more difficult and probably not wise to do in a complex case.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

To help people and make a decent living for my family. I enjoy helping clients who are frequently at the worst time of their lives to resolve their legal issues, feel better about themselves and move on in life.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I am fortunate to have lived and travelled abroad as a young man. I developed a deep appreciation for this country and its judicial system. It is the most accessible and fair system in the world. Making it work for our citizens gives me great satisfaction.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

To see the personal relief my clients get when they successfully complete their bankruptcy and get them a fresh start is a wonderful thing. To lift their financial burden and make a living for my family doing it is the best of both worlds.

What do you like best about your career?

I can champion a person's cause and make the judicial system work for them. That is worth its own weight in gold. Using skills learned in training and the courtroom to read, write, analyze and speak about the law on their behalf is a challenge in which I can utilize my full potential.

Tell us about your law firm:

My colleagues and I have worked together for 18 years. We have a very talented and client-oriented group of legal assistants and paralegals who have a wealth of knowledge and are sensitive to the needs of our clients.

What are your strengths and style?

I believe and have been told that I am an empathetic attorney who relates to clients and can explain their legal options to them in terms they can understand. My goals are their goals.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy reading, primarily biographies and non-fiction, politics, pro football and playing golf.
