What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I encourage clients to educate themselves on legal issues.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

This does not happen very frequently in criminal defense practice.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

It's not a good idea in the criminal law context.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I decided to be a lawyer because I like fighting for people.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

In particular, my background as a criminal prosecutor helps me be a better lawyer. It gives me critical insight into the inner workings of the criminal justice system. I put the experience and the contacts I gained to work for my clients as a criminal defense attorney.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I decided on my specialty because I like advocating for the underdog; I like taking on the awesome powers of the state.

What do you like best about your career?

I most like the relationships built with clients.

Tell us about your law firm:

We have a team of three full-time California criminal defense lawyers. We also have several "of counsel" California criminal defense attorneys.

What are your strengths and style?

My unique strength is I never believe that any case is hopeless.

My style is steadfast.
