Employment & Labor Relations
I provide counsel to small and medium sized businesses regarding compliance with federal and state employment law, and when necessary, defend those companies in litigation. Having served as in-house employment counsel for eight years at a Fortune 500 company, I approach each legal issue with a respect for the bottom line and work to develop legal solutions that are administratively practical and cost effective.

Cox & Sterling is a full-service law firm providing high-quality legal service to businesses throughout the Central Arkansas community. Our areas of focus include business, employment and real estate litigation. We are conveniently located in North Little Rock, near the Maumelle community, and just a short distance from the legal, business, and financial center of Arkansas.
Cox & Sterling was established in February 2008 by Cade Cox and David Sterling. I joined the firm in November 2008. Because each of the attorneys has practiced for more than a decade in our areas of focus, we offer clients the same resources as many large firms, but with the personalized attention that comes with a small firm.
500 telecommunications company for eight years. During that time, I provided legal counsel to human resources staff and business managers across the country on a wide range of employment issues, including accommodating disabled workers, family and medical leaves, minimizing the liability of terminations, downsizing strategies, union avoidance, and wage and hour compliance. Additionally, I worked for two years as an Associate in the Employment Law Practice Group of Davis Wright Tremaine, a 400-attorney firm in Seattle, Washington.
I appreciate a client who brings his or her ideas and views to me. When a client has taken the time to research an issue, it makes communication between the attorney and client much easier.
I am happy to review documents prepared by clients because clients have much more knowledge of the facts than I do and because client document preparation can increase the efficiency of resolving the matter.
I would not recommend that anyone represent him or herself, even if that person is an attorney.
I became a lawyer to help people solve problems, and I still take great satisfaction in providing a good, cost-effective result for a client.
As in-house employment law counsel, I learned the importance of providing legal advice that is based on an understanding of the client's business.
I enjoy employment law because it allows me to work with business owners who are passionate about the success of their companies.
I very much enjoy being a small business owner who helps other business owners achieve their objectives.
My colleagues, Cade Cox and David Sterling, have both been practicing law since 1997, and each has focused his practice on specific areas of the law that allow the firm to provide full-service legal assistance to business owners. Cade practices in the transactional area of business law and does a significant amount of real estate litigation. David focuses his practice on business litigation. We often work together to solve our client's issues.
My strength is the business experience I gained as in-house counsel. My working style is to collaborate with my clients to develop a legal strategy that is in line with their business objectives.
My primary personal interest is keeping up with my two boys, ages five and seven.
