Firm Focus and History

Brandli Law's focus areas of law are criminal defense, family law, real estate, and wills, trusts, and probate. Brandli Law uses top-of-the-line legal research tools and tailors our services to each client's individual needs.

Brandli Law was first opened in November 2008. I am a local island attorney who worked as a San Juan County Deputy Prosecutor for two years before hanging out my own shingle. Working as a prosecutor benefitted Mr. Brandli by giving him an "inside" view of island law enforcement and court systems work.

Previous Employment Summary

As a deputy prosecutor for San Juan County, I handled over 800 criminal cases.
Prior to that, I worked for Holland and Knight Law Firm (internship), the Tulalip Tribe (criminal defense), and clerked for the Honorable James Singleton (Federal District Court of Alaska), and the Division II Washington State Court of Appeals.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Key to successfully navigating the dispute resolution process is a firm understanding of our client's rights. At Brandli Law, we endeavor to be experts in all the law applicable to our client's matter. We use this knowledge to accurately inform our client of his or her options and as a tool with the other parties.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

No problem. Brandli Law is always open to review documents prepared by clients or other attorneys.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

An important element of the services Brandli Law provides is to counsel clients on what services they really need. We cannot feel good about our work if we are charging our clients for unneeded legal services. But, at those times when a client needs expertise, Brandli Law is ready to provide it.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I became an attorney out of an idealistic view of this country and its legal system. I enjoy helping people with my expertise.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

With age came experience and a talent for dealing with the emotional side of legal issues. I excel at easing my client's transitions in and out of legal issues and help them find their focus for what's important to them.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

Brandli Law tailors its primary areas of focus around community need.

What do you like best about your career?

Happy hour! (Just checking to see if anyone is reading this!)

Tell us about your law firm:

I have a very attractive paralegal on staff who is highly intelligent and has a wonderful personality. She has excellent communication skills and is especially great at keeping in touch with our client's concerns. She's my wife!

What are your strengths and style?

I tailor my style to my client’s needs. I am a very careful listener.  I do not have a “one size fits all style.”

Personal Interests:

Personal interests include spending time with wife, four girls and foster son, photography, day hikes, reading.
