Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania Bar Association, Montgomery Bar Association.

Continuing Education

I always exceed the required number of continuing education hours and concentrate my education on updates in divorce, custody, and other family law/divorce issues.

Example Cases

I have many cases where the litigants come to Court ready to disagree on every point. This week, I had a case where one of the parties was unrepresented. We conducted a conference and settled the case so that both parents had substantial contact with their children. As we were leaving, the unrepresented spouse thanked me for being fair. My client followed up by thanking me for making her feel that her concerns were addressed and for not forcing the issue, which would have made a contested custody trial the only alternative.

Firm Focus and History

I passed the bar in Pennsylvania in 1981, began working for various firms and started my own firm in approximately 1996.

We focus on divorce and family law.

Previous Employment Summary

I have worked previously for other law firms.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I believe that it is important that clients attempt to learn the divorce/custody process. However, when a client comes in for an initial consultation, I give them a crash course in Divorce Law 101.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

If the clients do research and prepare documents regarding their case, I welcome it. In addition, it saves them substantial legal fees.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am absolutely willing to be the coach behind the lines, especially in initial custody and support proceedings.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I took many required courses at Penn State. One of the required areas was Political Science. I took two to three courses. The last one I took was a course about the inequalities of the judicial system and the access to competent legal advice, especially for those with lower incomes. I decided in my junior year to apply to law school so that I could help people in every income bracket obtain legal services.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I do not pontificate and argue just to argue. A lot of attorneys litigate just to litigate. Not so with me. I try to save my clients' money, time, and energy so that they get through this most difficult time in their lives as painlessly as possible but knowing that they were treated fairly throughout the process.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I volunteered to help a woman with a custody case and realized how many people needed help in one of the most difficult times they might ever encounter: going through a divorce and worrying about their children, their property, and their lives.

What do you like best about your career?

I like helping clients so that they feel that they have been heard by their attorney and the courts.

Tell us about your law firm:

My law firm is small so that each client receives personal attention. I am readily accessible through telephone calls and email.

What are your strengths and style?

I take family law very seriously. I am friendly and personable, but most importantly, take my clients' issues very seriously in a professional manner. I went through a divorce when my son was 4 years old, so I have lived through the whole process. I promise my clients that I will return their contact with me within in the same day either by phone or by email. They will not ever complain that I do not return their phone calls or emails.

Personal Interests:

I love to read and swim in my personal time.
