I attend continuing legal education seminars on litigation and personal injury topics and read the Florida Law Weekly, which provides Florida appellate court decisions on a weekly basis.
• I represented an eleven year-old girl who fractured her leg on a pool slide on a cruise ship. We obtained a six figure settlement on the eve of trial.
• I have succeeded in numerous appeals, including some before the Florida Supreme Court (Stockman v. Downs).

Clients receive the experience of a trial lawyer who has been practicing since 1982 and the personal attention one would expect from a small firm. The cases of all clients are handled in the manner we would wish our own matters to be handled.
The current professional association was incorporated in 1990 and the firm has maintained an office in the same building since 1994.
From 1982 to 1985, I worked as an associate at Olins, Foerster & Siegel, a five-lawyer firm in San Diego. From 1985 to 1990, I worked as an associate and then as a partner with my father in Fort Lauderdale.

I was named Pro Bono Attorney of the Year in 2005 by Broward Lawyers Care.
Clients benefit from educating themselves on legal issues, so I am strongly in favor of it. However, this self-education should not be relied on solely. Someone not trained or experienced in the law is likely to miss or misinterpret important issues. A well-educated client who discusses her knowledge with her attorney in the context of the case at-hand will better understand how to achieve her desired goals.
I would prefer not to. I handle litigation. In the course of litigation, however, I frequently review documents prepared by others and offer suggestions as to how changes may benefit the client.
Practically, it is impossible. There are ethical and legal problems that make this prospect impossible. If I am to represent a client, I am in all the way and cannot be involved half-way.
I went to law school to further my education, not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. While in law school, I started clerking for a law firm and realized that I liked solving people's problems by applying the law. That experience also showed me I could apply the law as well or better than most others.
I am the oldest of seven children and learned responsibility at a young age. Running my own law practice since 1990 has been a tremendous responsibility and mostly an enjoyable challenge. The experience has allowed me to appreciate the challenges small businesses face, as small businesses and their owners or employees are my typical clients. But, mostly, my experience preparing and trying cases since 1982 is most beneficial to my clients.
To a large extent, it chose me. I started out handling personal injury cases, business disputes, and consumer protection cases. Clients with those problems were continually referred to me.
1. I am my own boss.
2. A lawyer is constantly learning new things in order to solve people's problems.
3. There is a tremendous sense of satisfaction in performing a job well and obtaining a good result.
I am the only attorney in my office. I have a terrific secretary/legal assistant who has been with me since 2006. She is a smart college graduate who is very personable, takes her job seriously, and is attentive to the needs of our clients.
My strengths are my experience and dedication to preparation. I am told I write well. I know that I am always conscious of the cost of legal services and try to be as cost-efficient as possible. All cases and courses of conduct during the handling of a case are evaluated on a cost/benefit analysis approach.
In my spare time, I enjoy cycling, mountain biking, hiking, and spending time with my wife and children.
Alana Rodriguez.

Personal injury and wrongful death cases are handled on a contingency fee arrangement. There are some types of cases where a fixed or flat fee can be offered. Most other cases are handled on an hourly basis, and the hourly fee will depend on the complexity of the issues presented.

Yes. There is no time limit to the initial consultation, as every case is different.
For hourly cases, I will require a retainer that we will discuss and agree upon during the initial consultation. The amount of the retainer will depend on the complexity and difficulty of the case.
Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.
Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
