I fulfill my continuing legal education requirements by attending seminars focused on bankruptcy. I meet monthly with the State Bar Bankruptcy section members discussing bankruptcy issues.
Clients come see me when they have exhausted all other means of remedy and really need a helping hand. The ability to assist individuals in a time of need is the most gratifying aspect of bankruptcy. The most fulfilling cases I represent are those that enable my client to keep an important personal possession like their house or car. I understand my clients are hard working, yet difficult circumstances in life leave them with no choice but to consider bankruptcy. Providing them with freedom from creditors, debts, lawsuits and all the other stresses associated with dismal times is why I practice bankruptcy law.

The Law Office of Kaveh Mostafavi, PLLC was established in 2008 to serve the residents of Arizona for all their Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy needs. In the year since its establishment, we have filed hundreds of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies. I always advocate for our clients so that they may achieve the maximum benefit the law allows. I have a great reputation for honesty and personal service. Clients can rest assured they will have ample time to meet with me to address any questions or concerns.
My firm focuses on Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies. We can stop repossessions, foreclosures, garnishments, lawsuits and harassing creditor calls. Beyond the bankruptcies we focus on honesty, integrity and personal service. I personally represent every client throughout the bankruptcy process. I stress quality of service so clients are fully informed and have the opportunity to consult with me from the moment we conduct their initial consultation to the discharge of their bankruptcy. My clients will not be a number; they will not be pawned off to a paralegal or receptionist. They see my face on my website, will meet with me at their initial consult, can consult with me throughout the process and will have me by their side in court. My firm's objective is not to maximize profits. It is to provide quality service at an affordable price.
I previously practiced in a large bankruptcy firm. The lack of personal service and caring for clients drove me to start a bankruptcy firm that focuses on both. The benefit of practicing in a large firm is that I received valuable experience. During my year at the firm, I filed hundreds of bankruptcies, each having its own issues and complications. I diligently pursued each case to the best of my ability. Today, I am confident that I can represent clients in all aspects of bankruptcy. The experience I gained in the past year has prepared me for most, if not all, situations. Furthermore, I understand that filing a bankruptcy is one of the most stressful events in a person's life. I strive to ensure my clients are educated and comfortable throughout the process. Beyond improved personal service, my clients will receive more competitive fees versus a large firm that inflates prices to cover overhead costs.
I believe it is crucial for clients to research bankruptcy and educate themselves. This allows them to be proactive in their bankruptcy. I ensure my clients are fully informed throughout their bankruptcy. The more they educate themselves, the more they will understand about the processes of their filing. I am available for my clients to address any questions or concerns at all times, so the more they know the more comprehensive my advice can be.
Individuals should be careful when filing their own bankruptcy, or if their documents are prepared by a third party. Mistakes in the documents can prolong the discharge or even be grounds for dismissal. I am affiliated with an organization that provides pro se debtors an opportunity to have their documents reviewed by an attorney. I understand not every debtor can afford an attorney and take pride in reviewing documents for them.
I am happy to share my knowledge and experience with clients so that they may represent themselves. However, from my experience, I realize hiring a diligent attorney frees the client from the added stresses of dealing with lenders and creditors, trustees and the courts. I believe debtors are better served in a bankruptcy having an attorney on their side.
I always knew I wanted to be in a profession that helped people. I was a psychology major as an undergrad and really enjoy understanding people. Initially, I wanted to be a doctor (both my father and brother are doctors), but realized after a few summer internships that the sight of blood terrified me.
As a lawyer I can help people without the threat of passing out. Specifically, I decided to practice bankruptcy because few areas of law allow clients to achieve the relief they desire in a relatively short period of time. The most rewarding part is the post discharge phone calls I receive from my clients thanking me for getting their lives back on track.
I was raised in a small town in Iowa and was always told to help those in their time of need. My compassion for every client results from that philosophy. Furthermore, my time in a large bankruptcy firm has given me the power to diligently represent my clients with the utmost competence and candor.
I have filed hundreds of Chapter 7 cases. I have filed several Chapter 13 plans and received confirmations after Trustee recommendations. I have represented hundreds of clients at 341 Meeting of Creditors and 2004 Examinations. I know all the Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 Trustees in Maricopa and Pinal counties. I have appeared before every Bankruptcy Judge sitting in Arizona.
I have learned that clients should not be just a number on a file. They need to see me, speak to me, and be confident in my ability. These experiences enable me to provide my clients with honesty, integrity, and the personal service they deserve.
It is the most gratifying area of practice due to the ability to provide clients the relief they require in a time of need. I like knowing I can be the way out when individuals feel they do not have one. Getting people's lives back on track--that's what I strive to do.
The one-on-one interaction I have with my clients and listening to their life stories. I was a psychology major as an undergrad and really enjoy understanding people. Each new case creates new perspective and resolve. I enjoy seeing people smile when I tell them I can help them and relieving the stresses of hard economic times.
I am a solo practitioner, so my clients will deal primarily with me. My goal is to provide the most competent, diligent personal service to each and every client. I do not judge anybody so my clients do not need to ever be ashamed when they meet me.
I am hands-on and will do everything in my power to always be there for my clients. When individuals come to my office, they meet with me. I consult with them; I advise them; I speak with them over the phone; I represent them at their 341 Meeting of Creditors and I speak with the Trustees during the pendency of their case.
I enjoy health and fitness, playing basketball and getting to know new people. I enjoy nature shows and documentaries. I have an amazing network of family and friends around me who always support me.

My fees for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy range from $1,200 - $1,800 plus court and class costs depending on the complexity of the bankruptcy. A Chapter 13 is more (typically around $3,500), however fees may be included in the plan. In a Chapter 13, I will take a retainer upfront and put the remaining fees inside the plan.
