Well over one hundred estate plans were set up for clients who since died. Subsequent to virtually all of their deaths, their families have been able to settle their estates without probate, or the payment of any federal, state, or local taxes.

Our firm provides state-of-the-art estate planning services ranging from average estates to complex estates. We assist our clients in creating estate plans which will minimize taxes and expenses, and avoid court proceedings. We help clients set up new businesses in the form of limited liability companies and corporations, and handle their company's legal matters. We have extensive background in real estate matters. We assist in all areas dealing with real estate, including sale or purchase without agents and brokers.
I founded the firm in 1974. Kari Marcus and Trevor Weston joined the firm in 2005. Falvay Marcus & Weston has continually maintained offices in Bloomfield Hills and Ortonville since 1977.
I was employed by Lawyers Title Insurance Company and was a licensed real estate broker. I was formerly an assistant prosecuting attorney for Oakland County.
During law school, I was involved in Student Legal Services providing pro bono legal services to undergraduate students. I participate in the lawyer referral program offered to AARP members. I am listed in Madison's Who's Who, Who's Who of American Professionals, and in Outstanding Lawyers in America. I am rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell, their highest rating.
I think it is important that my clients understand the legal issues involved in their cases. Many times they can gain a basic understanding of these issues by research on the internet or in self-help books. A better informed client helps me guide them through their situation.
I will review documents prepared by my clients. Many times their documents are well-prepared. Other times, my legal assistance is advised. I believe that if a client desires a trust, it should be prepared by an attorney.
I will help clients represent themselves in legal matters, and provide ways they can minimize their legal costs and expenses.
I became a lawyer because I enjoy working with people. Laws are always changing, and the challenge of staying current with those changes is rewarding. There is great satisfaction in having people use my services as clients for many years, and being able to call me as a friend to answer their questions.
My background makes me well-suited to work in the areas of law in which I am engaged in. I was trained and licensed as a life insurance agent, and as a real estate broker. My undergraduate studies were predominately in business. Dealing with people from all walks of life have made me uniquely qualified to relate well personally with all types of individuals.
Estate planning suits the personalities of all of our attorneys well. We enjoy helping people plan for their future and making life better for their families, minimizing expenses and conflict. Our firm does not engage in litigation. We prefer to help people avoid litigation, and to establish friendly, positive relationships with our clients.
Being an attorney affords a unique opportunity to help people. Our attorneys enjoy being part of a small firm which enables us to develop close personal relationships with many individuals and families.
Each attorney in our firm is enjoyable to work with and has an outgoing and pleasant personality. Our legal assistant, Lori Middleton, has been with the firm for 17 years, is friendly to all clients, and has a wealth of knowledge. Our administrative assistant, Lynn Cox is friendly and knowledgeable.
I have a unique ability to communicate with my clients in a way which enables them to understand the concepts which are being explained. I enjoy getting to know my clients beyond their legal issues, and letting them share information about me and my family and background.
I enjoy outdoor activities, including golf and snow skiing. My wife and I enjoy travel and entertaining friends and family. We enjoy cultural events such as theatre, museums and live musical events.
