Firm Focus and History

Kittrell & Rowan was established in 1997, in Mobile, Alabama. My partner and I had worked primarily in the field of Insurance Defense, and we both wanted to represent individuals against insurance companies. We now utilize the knowledge that we gained doing defense work to better represent our clients in Plaintiff's cases.

My partner and I have both been practicing law for over eleven years. I practice in the areas of automobile/ trucking litigation, insurance bad faith, products liability litigation, premises liability and general civil litigation. I help personal injury victims recover compensation for their medical bills, lost wages, property damage and for the pain and suffering/emotional distress that they are forced to endure as a result of the negligent acts of others. In most cases, we do not charge a fee unless we collect on our client's behalf.

Previous Employment Summary

Prior to the formation of Kittrell & Rowan, I worked with several firms in the field of Insurance Defense.

Activities and Awards

BV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell; Vice-President of the Coastal Conservation Association, Alabama Chapter; member of the Vestry Governing Board of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I think it is important for clients to fully understand the legal process. However, most legal situations need an experienced attorney involved. When people attempt to handle complicated legal issues on their own, they often hurt themselves in the long run if a lawsuit has to be filed.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I always welcome and encourage my clients to actively help me in their legal issue. In fact, I am dependent on the clients' help in all of my cases.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

My advice is always free, and I speak to many people who do not hire me right away. If potential clients prefer to handle issues on their own, I completely respect their right to do so.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I thoroughly enjoy helping people. I also love the competitive aspect of litigation. I always want to win, but in the end, winning is achieving the best result for my client, either in settlement, or in Court with a jury verdict.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I have been happily married for twelve years, and I have two wonderful children, who have changed my perspective on life. I was also a U.S. Marine from 1990 - 1994.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I wanted to handle personal injury cases with a focus on automobile and trucking litigation.

What do you like best about your career?

When I receive thank you letters from clients long after I have finished representing them, I know that I have done my job and improved their lives in what was a very difficult situation.

Tell us about your law firm:

I have a wonderful paralegal, Amanda Howell, who is attentive to all of my clients' immediate needs. She handles many of the details of all of my cases, and has a strong rapport with all of my clients.

What are your strengths and style?

I am very energetic and enthusiastic about representing my clients, and I always want to win. However, being respectful of all people and acting professionally is very important to me.

Personal Interests:

I love spending time with my wife and kids. I also enjoy fishing, golfing and hunting.
